Did you mean:

A wise move?

Greetings.

I presently own the flex (received it for attending a conference, so no out-of-pocket expense) and I am thinking about moving up to the force.  One reason is that I constantly go up and down the stairs at work.  Would this be a wise move?

Thank you.

Would seeing the floor count motivate you to use the stairs more often at work?  Or just tell you how often you did without impacting whether or not you did?

If you're already routinely doing stairs and you don't need extra motivation to take them, then other than bragging rights the floor count may not make much difference to you.  Be sure to consider other factors:

  • Do you like interchangeable / replaceable bands?  (The Force is not)
  • Do you want it waterproof for the shower or pool?  (The Force is not)
  • Do you want to be able to see your current statistics?
  • Would a floor count motivate you to do stairs more often?

[Edit:  Forgot about a couple of other factors to consider]

  • The Force can display the time (currently only when you push a button though)
  • The Force will gain the ability to show phone call notifications

These are more personal choices so it is impossible to say if it would be a wise move.

I live and work in single story structures, in a relatively flat rural area without even tall hotels or anything so it isn't easy for me to get my floors in other than when I travel.  So I like being able to track my floors when I do get the opportunity.

In my opinion that's a very good idea. I have a Flex as well, but I would like the Force instead because of the screen, real-time stats, stairs climbed and call notifications in the future.

Hi, I just received a Force as a gift - caveat is that I've only been using it for a few days. I find the stairs climbed feature to be pretty far off the mark. For example, mine says I've climbed more than 4 flights of stairs today and the only stairs I encountered today was one flight down. I'd research what longer-term users had to say before considering the force if it is, indeed, your major reason for upgrading.  The wristband is also a negative (see Amazon reviews), but I've put a rubberband around mine and will see how that works.
