Almonds are great diet food

@Baltoscott was right.  Google said you can't get fat eating almonds.  They have good kinds of fat and lots of protein and fiber. Good to know.  I can't exercise at all really at the moment.  I have gout arthritis.  I think it is supposed to flare and go away in a while.  It is causing me a few bad days.

@Glenda - of course you've got to watch portions ... too much of a good thing (almonds) can be bad, but too much of a bad thing (candy) is worse.

As for the almonds, I like to buy them sliced and then add some to plain unsweetened yogurt along with some frozen blueberries. The almonds add some crunch and the yogurt and fruit make the whole thing a bit less calorie dense and more flavorful than eating almonds alone.

Gout? In your foot? I'm so sorry. I sure hope it passes soon!

Frozen Blueberries and Fat free  Greek yogurt  Is such a treat for less calories and Grapenuts cereal can be added for crunch too.  I read a suggestion to bake the cereal.  I tried it.  I don't know if it was better.  I really like extra crunch in lots of things but I can't smell anything and I think my taste is weak also as a result.  Cold and crunch is a compensation.  I should compare the calorie count  as I think the calories are not low for Grapenuts cereal  and definitely has less protein than the healthy  crunchy almonds.

Thanks for sharing, @Glenda!

All of these sound great, I've been eating either almonds or low fat Greek yogurt for snacks throughout the day! They're very good. 😀

No, I have gout arthritis.  My whole right leg and hip is a problem,  When I was about 24 I broke the right knee and this year I slipped on a wet sanitizer wipe and fell on my back with the right knee bent under me.   I just learned about this type of arthritis and it will come and go away for long periods I hope.  It is very painful though.  I've been counting my blessings for  so long and feeling so grateful that I was so healthy and physically able to do anything I wanted.  Now suddenly  I learned that isn't true.  Weird.  I want to comment though to all the young and getting-older people, Old age will be much easier for you if you are a normal weight and reasonably fit.  Think about it.  Try not to be overweight when you get older and are less physically able to do things.  Everything will be more difficult if you are carrying around lots of extra pounds.
