And so it begins...

Hi All,

I'm starting a new journey in life after alot of changes and I thought I'd share.

After years of steadily gaining weight I finally surpassed that dreaded number that I swore I would never pass (300) and it seriously scared me. I was always one of those people who carried my weight well, meaning that I could still do anything despite my weight. Then a couple monthes later everything changed. I had pain, alot of it, then I became prediabetic, and then I had to have a hysterectomy...all this at 31.

Then more changes we bought a farm, adopted our daughter (shes 9), my husband started doing long hual trucking and all my excuses (I dont wanna walk where people are gonna see, I dont wanna excercise alone, I cant excercise with you (my hubby) watching me) all went out the window. As we are now in the final steps to adopt our son (hes 7) it has become painfully aware to me that I need to step things up. Both of our children are healthy and I want to teach them good habits now while they are young. The best way i know to do that is thru example so here we gooooo....

I'm hoping to find some friends on here that will encourage and push me. I love a good challenge and will give 110% when in a competition with someone. I am also a great cheerleader!

You sound very positive and I'm sure you will do it. Have you heard about the Blood Sugar Diet? It's recommended for PreDiabetic and seems to have a good success rate (along with exercise of course!).

Welcome aboard, @Jessi-G!  Sounds like you are ready to get moving, and get fit. As you reach the point where you don't see enough progress, and you want to just quit and go back to your "normal life", remember your daughter & son and that you want to be here for them for a long time. Then, Keep on Stepping!

Please check out Dr. Jason Fung's site.  He works with a lot of T2D and discusses what he refers to as hormonal obesity.  I read and subscribe to his blogs and he gives the science behind it.  He also recommends a Low Carb, High Fat diet and recommends a site known as the Diet Doctor

Good luck on your journey.
