Wondering if there are any diabetics out there who are using the FB and working towards weight loss? I'm insulin dependent and trying to lose weight but more importantly trying to regain my health and physical strength while balancing everything. A challenge a day! Love to hear your stories....

Hi Kiria
Kick that sweet junk to the curb. You health and all your organs are more important. Don't let that junk in your life!
You are on your way to 180 now and logging all your food makes you want to avoid the crappy stuff. At least it does for me. I don't let that junk in my house. I see it as poison so I want to avoid it. It is all about attitude. Of course, then we get to be kind and rewarding to yourselves in different ways.
Do you have a list of healthy rewards? It can help.
Best,
Barb

I take a shake twice a day that supports healthy blood sugar level.
Maintain healthy insulin response. And optimize blood sugar and
carbohydrate metabolism. Love it.. It has..
- Chromium: Supports diets deficient in chromium and is necessary for
proper carbohydrate metabolism*
- Cinnamon bark extract: Supports glucose levels already in a healthy
range*
- Korean red ginseng root: Helps support normal glucose uptake*
- Mulberry extract: Helps slow the absorption of high glycemic foods*
- Green tea leaf extract: Promotes normal insulin activity in healthy
individuals*
- Sweet potato extract: Supports fasting blood sugar levels already in a
healthy range*

Ellie,
I don't know your age but that is a big factor too. I am 65 and have been a diabetic for 10 years. I am
42 pds lighter than 10 years ago. I take metformin and also have to take shots. I am still trying to lose weight. Have about 25 more to go. My doctor said I probably will be on medicine the rest of my life.
If you are younger do all you can to get the weight off. You might have luck and can get off everything.
My A1C test was 6.5 a couple months ago. Doctor wants it lower. I do exercise and try and get 20,000
steps a day. Morning reading are around 90 but night time it goes up if I eat the wrong food.
It takes a tole on your health and the expense even after insurance pays their part can be high.
Also go to classes for diabetics . Ask your doctor to recommend a center that the insurance company
will pay for it. They will explain it all to you.
It will only get worse if you don't take control your self. Good luck

Hi Stepping Up,
I wonder if your BS climb after that strenous workout cause unbeknown to you your BS dropped and now you have an adrenalin rush going on. That adrenalin makes BS rise! I've had Type 1 for 56 years and every day is different! I increase my basal after my workouts and that helps keep my BS more steady vs. climbing dramatically.
I really wish the pump had two reservoirs, one for insulin and one for glucose. That way when your BS dropped you could hit a button and the glocose would go in vs. the insulin. Then you wouldn't frantically have to be eating sugar or grabbbing an o.j. after a workout or carrying something with you ALL the time in case of a low. I'll have to contact Medtronic on that one (haha).
Try not to get discouraged. It's a tough disease. You're doing the best you can!

Yes, well I have low blood sugar but what I've found to help me is of course getting my steps in and being part of Yoli....the better body system. Basically it's a system that helps heal the body from the inside out and also helps with weightloss along with my Sugar levels are finally leveled out! Feels so good not to be dependent upon sodas and things that were making me pack on the pounds! It's all about balancing your Ph and making sure that you are keeping active while keeping up your protien intake.

the only real way you can control your sugar leves is by watching every single thing you put in your mouth, no sugar, very little carbs and they should come strictly from only whole wheat products, fruits and some veggies....of course exercise and plenty of water and you really will see a difference....

just diagnosed on January and I take metformin..I to was rushed to the hospital it was pretty scarey learning you are type 2, I was in A-fib for over 2.5 hours, they were like something is going on here...checked my sugars and over 500, anyway changing everything about my life certainly helped, don't eat any sugar, very low carbs, drinking plenty of water, and use my fitbit, down 21 pounds so far.....

Type two here, and got a replacement fitbit for christmas and use it everyday. I also track my calories by using loseit.com site. it transfer food to fitbit. I just think loseit has a better way to put in food.
I really started getting into it when my A1c was 8.1 in January. I started my life change on Lent and since then lost 20lbs. blood pressure is down too. Looking to have friends in friendly daily challenges.
