Some background: I used to be skinny...like too skinny...unhealthy skinny. I weighed 88 pounds when I graduated high school. I also have PCOS and after my kids, my body completely turned around. Now I have an awful time losing weight. I am sitting between 170 and 175 at 5'3" on a daily basis. I've counted calories, I am walking...it has done nothing. I need to amp it up a bit. I'm getting married on June 23, 2018. Of course, I want to be healthy, but I also want to look fantastic for my wedding. I know a doctor visit is in order and that is high on my to do list. I spent months and months watching every calorie I put in my mouth and exercising daily and lost 2 pounds. I know that this is harder for me than it is for other people.
So...I need a few things.
I need to make a doctor appointment and see if I can get my hormones under control.
I need to go back to the dreaded counting calories, even though, when I did, I was always in range. I just want to be able to show a doctor that it isn't working like it should.
I need to continue to have the motivation to exercise when I am seeing no results.
My goal is to weigh between 140-145 by my wedding. That's 30 pounds in a year. I know it'll be rough.
Anyone want to meet up in this thread, whether you're getting married or not, and keep each other motivated?

How exciting! I love that you have given yourself time to be your healthiest. I have the same amount to lose - 30lbs. My goal was to lose it all by this fall but my scale has not moved much this month so I think I need to stretch it out until January 2018. I will get there, it is just not going as quickly as it was 6 months ago. I'll be happy to check in on this thread and read/share progress.

If my memory serves, there is some evidence that Metformin can help with weight and symptom management in PCOS.
It's probably worth looking in to before you see your doctor!
Also... brides always lose weight prior to the wedding. Apparently organising a wedding can be quite stressful and put you off eating. I wouldn't know, I'm a bloke, all I had to do was turn up on time... 😉
Good luck. But remember that the marriage is more important than the wedding.

Congratulations on your engagement. I wish you all the best now and in the future.
Motivation is an emotion that comes and goes similar to happy and sad. In my opinion holding on to the why you want to lose weight and not so much the emotion behind it will keep you going. If losing weight without medical intervention is near impossible for you, then that is your first order of business. Its very difficult to keep moving forward when there are few rewards for the effort. Once you and your doctor agree on terms of medicine and you feel ready to start, the calorie counting and exercise takes on new meaning. Walking is great, but it does not burn a ton of calories unless you are walking fast paced miles per day. You may want to look into joining the gym and taking advantage of other cardio activities as well as some weight training to keep the muscle you have. Good luck in however you choose to accomplish your goal- either way you will be a beautiful bride and hubs will be thrilled.

I've been on Metformin before. I am insulin resistant due to the PCOS and they put me on it to help with fertility. Yep...I know the marriage is what is important. This is not my first marriage. Won't be a traditional wedding either. I don't see much stress coming from it.

I have an appointment on Friday. No gym for me. I walk major hills in my town...hike, run around with my kids.
