Just interested in knowing if anyone is following or has foloowed the Dukan diet. High protein, rapid weight loss.

Kind of sounds like the stillman diet, all lean protein to start

Sure, you drop a lot of water weight because you keep depleting glycogen stores, which is attached with water.
The bad thing is, that just lowered your Lean Body Mass and your metabolism - because the body spends energy dealing with intra-cellular water.
So now you have to eat even less than you could have otherwise, which may be fine.
As soon as you eat carbs though, or come out of that diet, the water weight is coming right back.

I just read Dr. Joel Furhman's book. "Eat to Live" where he outlines the dangers of a high protein diet..from increased risk of heart disease, cancer, high cholesterol. He says the only way to lose weight permanenetly and protect yourself form all of moedern day diseases is ot limit (or eliiminate) all animal protein from the diet and concentrate on green vegetables, fruit and legumes.
No diet is easy, but I want one that keeps me safe and healthy.

Been on it since last Aug (took a couple of weeks off the loosing part and stayed the same) It is marvelous!
