Hi
I know this wouldn't be relevant to most people but my aim is to gain weight. I have not been ill or have any other psychiatric illness, I just don't eat a lot. I actually find exercise increases my appetite and helps.
I'm sure there's plenty of other people in the same situation as me.
So, please Fitbit editors and experts on here... it would be fantastic to see more articles on how to put on weight and keep it on! There's a zillion articles on here and internet in general on how to loose weight but how about helping the 1% of us who are a bit skinny and want to put it on.. and exercise, keep fit at the same time??
Regards
Shaun

You are right, mostly the focus is on how to gain or maintain your current weight. I did find a pretty decent link for you from someone who was trying to gain weight after a surgery. They're all decent suggestions - I didn't even think to suggest swapping water for fruit juice or milk. The only one I don't 100% agree with is dried fruit. They can be good occasionally but too often have too much sugar or additives to be considered healthy.

Perfect message! I have struggled with the same. My BMI is about 18.5 and have always strugled to maintain weight. Even being pregnant i only managed to put on a small ammount. I am now for the first time in my life considered a normal weight. So i would like to see more of this kind of thing! I find excercise stimulates my appetite aswell.

Thanks again A_Lurker, after you're previous advise where you recommended nuts, I've been nibbling on peanuts and putting on weight nicely. Banana's also seem to be helping.

ehutton15, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I was annoyed when I paid for the premium version of the Fitbit App and then realised the Food Plan doesn't support weight gain, only maintaining or loosing it. The **ahem** thing still berates me for eating too much and my calorie intake being too high lol.
As mentioned in my previous reply to A_lurker, trying eating a handful of peanuts three or four times a day. It seems to be helping me.
Also, I've noticed that paying close attention to my water intake helps a lot as well. I was under the dellusion that drinking tea would count as water intake, apparently it doesn't. So I'm drinking more water now as well. I've put on 1.3kg in a week now. Which brings me to next question, what is a healthy rate of weight gain? Is 1.3kg too much or can I push it further? I'm guess it's dependant on height and sex, so I'm 5"5' and a man.

Why wouldn’t it (if it’s unsweetened tea)?
As to the pace of weight gain: 1.3 kg per week sounds a lot, most of it will be gained as fat (you’d only be able to add a small fraction of that as lean tissue). If your main goal is to gain weight and you don’t mind the fat, then it’s OK. It’s what sumo wrestler wannabees do.
