***Getting off my chest vent/rant warning***
For the first time since April I am 'benched', meaning I cannot do my usual morning walk nor my usually afternoon activities like additional walking/krav maga. I had a popped blister on my left heel and I didn't take good care of it and the skin started detaching more and one morning it all ripped along the edges from heel to mid foot - sending my nerve endings into overdrive. It is healing now but I'm limping along as it does and thus no exercise until I'm back to normal.
To date, I've lost 115lbs and shooting for an additional 15 by the end of the month and this threw a huge monkey wrench in the plan. I'm used to meeting my daily 7.5 miles by the time I get to work in the morning and enjoying the calorie burn throughout the day. Looking at my stats right now makes me upset and sad.
I know the body needs to heal but when you are used to a routine and stop doing it for even one day (get up, walk, log, and satisfaction in meeting your daily goals) it kinda sends the OCD into overdrive. Fears about gaining all that weight back, disappointing friends who have cheered you along the way, and returning to the life that led you to gain that weight to begin with weigh very heavily right now and I'm only on Day 1!
I'm just going to have to 'suck it up' and deal with it I know - the body needs this but the **ahem** brain just won't stop. Grrrrrrrr.
Thank you for spending a few moments to read my rant. If anyone reading this has been here, any words of wisdom would be appreciated!

I feel your pain, I had to take a couple of weeks off to rest my knees and let them recover and it was hell! I just did as much as I could do without causing myself discomfort and accepted that in order to continue down the path to a much healthier and happier lifestyle I had no choice but to let my body recover. You've done amazingly well so far and a little bump in the road certainly doesn't change that. Just keep an eye on your calorie intake and don't let yourself get down.

It's alway tough to get derailed when you are on a roll. I find it always happend to me at some point, and in the past, I would really let it get to me to the point that I gave in and sabotaged myself even more. Now that I am older and wiser (haha), I try to rise above and get back on track as soon as possilbe without giving up. Maybe there is some other exercise you can do in the meanwhile, like hand weights/resistance so you can maintain your calorie burn. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! The good news is that the foot has been healing great and thanks to some neosporin, gauze, moleskin, and double socks, I was able to resume walking within a couple days. Obsessed? No. Addicted to endorphins? YES!
While walking I keep tabs on the area and if I am getting some discomfort, I stop or slow down to let it adjust.
