Did you mean:

Below my deficit goal?

Hi!

I was wondering if it was going to affect my weight loss journey if I don't meet my calorie deficit goal. By this, I mean falling below the calories that I can have, not going over. I've lost about 25lbs so far and it hasn't affected anything so far but I just thought I'd ask.

Thank you!

Hi, @DG21 and congratulations on your progress! I think the only thing you need to worry about there is making sure you're eating enough calories to stay healthy with on a consistent basis. If you're eating too few calories (not to hit your deficit, but just to survive), your body will enter starvation mode and your progress will stop because it thinks you're starving to death and wants to just keep you alive.

Ever been vitamin or mineral deficient in something?

It can take months to show up, and sometimes not even severe side effects when discovered, but merely a well timed blood test.

But some do get drastic side effects after awhile.

Your body adapts when too caloric deficient. Side effects can take awhile to show up - and they can be just as bad.

Usually losing more muscle mass than desired (it's hard to build muscle back, easy to lose with right setup), you'll regret that sooner and later.

A goal is something to meet - not miss. And that's not even considering if it was reasonable goal.

Are you willing to miss your goal weight at some point and say - eh, close enough?

Be very concerned if you think there are no effects yet - when they come it's not sudden to make it noticeable.

Now, with those warnings out of the way - perhaps your rate is very reasonable, and you are merely making a bigger deficit that is still reasonable.

How long did it take to lose those 25 lbs?

How much more weight to lose to healthy weight?
