You must weigh at least 110 to donate blood. But they always give you treats and it doesn't hurt. They give you a little mini health check up that can reveal potential health problems for you. A donation can reduce harmful iron stores and other metals that build up in our bodies which can lower your risk of a heart attack. It can help your liver. It can save lives. There are about 6 different ways to give blood but the most common is whole blood. They always gave me juice, cookies or once even a tote bag. LOL
Once they asked what I weighed and I rounded my 108 off to 110 pounds not knowing 110 is the cut-off point. It is miserable, especially in winter to give blood if you are too small. It is too much of a % of the amount of blood you have. I didn't know. It was an accident. I'm bigger now.

Hi @Glenda. Nice to see you around!
Wow, this is a great input and thanks for sharing this with us! 😊 I was investigating and I noticed that blood donation won't become a weight loss fad any time soon. However, researchers have found that you can lose up to 650 calories per pint of blood donated.
See you around.

Maybe I should have mentioned..........When I had cancer, they didn't want me to donate, maybe because of the chemo-therapy . I don't even remember a conversation about it. Probably no one reading this has cancer???? I was cured of colon cancer.
