Best Times of day to Eat?

Curious on everyone's thoughts....

I have an early job, so I'm up at 3:30 and at work by 5. I eat ALL of my calories for the day at work.

I am ferociously hungry every morning and attempts to wait till later in the morning are futile.

My question is, I am stalled with weight loss. Is it because I am eating all my calories in this 5am-2pm window?

I was thinking I'm burning it all off since I exercise in the evening after work. But maybe I'm wrong, and it's latching on to my hips during the day?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Welcome to the community @Genny636. Could you provide us with a few more details so we can help you better? How much did you lose before your weight loss stalled and what was your starting weight? It could be you hit a plateau if you already lost quite some weight.

I have seen no credible studies that show any benefit for weight loss by eating at any particular time of day.

Personally, I eat whenever I feel real hunger. I don't count calories although I have in the past. Any way of eating that causes a person to feel "ferociously hungry" is generally doomed to failure in the long term. Real hunger is caused by a low carbohydrate reserve in the liver. You are running a real risk of a car accident on the way to work by courting hypoglycemia. This leads to muddled thinking similar to that experienced while freezing cold.

Ways of eating that don't include animal products and oils like olive oil aren't popular around here, so I won't recommend reading "The Starch Solution" by Dr. McDougall.

Your way of eating appears to be what would qualify as some sort of intermittent fasting: your "eating window" is between 5am and 2pm (9 hours) and you’re fasting for the rest of the time (15 hours). Is it by choice or by necessity? What prevents you from having breakfast and dinner at home, and only lunch during your working hours? Nutrient timing plays next to no role in weight loss, so it doesn’t matter at what time(s) of the day you’re eating and not eating, nor how many meals you split your intake into.

What kind of foods are you eating? When in a caloric deficit (necessary condition for losing weight), you want to favour foods that are satiating and/or rich in macronutrients and fiber. Does your current diet meet these criteria?

What kind of job do you have? Is it physical (requires you to stand and/or move a lot) or mostly sedentary (e.g. sitting in front of a computer)?

Do you bring food with you from home, or grab whatever you can during the course of your workday?
