Breastfeeding moms - do you count the calories burned?

I've read that we burn about 500 extra calories per day while breastfeeding. From what I can tell it looks like Fit Bit does not automatically take that into account. Would it be worth entering this as an "activity" to get credit for those extra calories? I'm curious how other moms are getting fit while feeding their babies! 🙂

if you go into settings, you can select 'nursing', fit bit is set up for breastfeeding 🙂

im not sure how it works given babies feed more some days and much much more in a growth spurt. my babies are now 16 and 13 so i cant say how it works, maybe a new mum can step in or you can report back once you try it?

all the best,

Hi! I use my Fitbit charger hr in conjunction with mfp and there you can enter breastfeeding in the food log and it will deduct the necessary about....basically adding more calories that you can eat to keep your supply up. I am still nursing my 22 month old twins and usually just add one session (they appear to be weaning) which gives me 400 calories back to eat. I've been losing weight doing this. Hope this helps😊 Oh, and mfp and fitbit are compatible so the information will show on both logs/devices/apps
