Did you mean:

C25K started yesterday, I need fitbit friends!

I am working on getting rid of some weight.  I'm a mom of three, my youngest just turned a year old, and my weight is out of control!  I started the Couch to 5K program yesterday, and it is HARD.  I have a sedentary job, and I've got about 100 pounds to lose eventually, although my short term goal is 30.  I run with my kids, pushing a stroller, but it's better than not trying.

I'm on MFP and fitbit (have the accounts synced so I don't have to duplicate my logging work), and I need

some friends!  My MFP name is theamazingshrinkingjules .  Here I'm just shrinkingjules.  Because I'm going to shrink!

Hi Shrinkingjules!

I could have wrote your post lol we are in the same boat! I only just got my fitbit yesterday and have been looking into the C25K program how are you finding it? I have a weak back (pregnancy related I think) and hip which I am trying to strengthen with yoga.

Could really do with motivation myself too so I will add you if that is ok and I can figure out how to do it lol

I am intrigued by this C25K program, how is it working out? I have a job that keeps me very active (20k-30k steps/shift) so I've been hesitant to add more activity durring my work week. So I'm not exactly coming from the couch, but I've never been the least bit athletic. Always wanted to run a 5k though, tried some self-guided training, but never had the energy to keep it up for more than a week.

I'm a new mom to an almost 1 year old. I ran regularly before baby but haven't since he was born. I'd really like to get back and I think I'm going to use c25k to do it! Would love some pals to help me motivate. I'm still trying to find the time......

Hi everyone,

I am really trying to get through the C25K program.  I am struggling between weeks 3-4.  I was able to complete one day of week 4 so far.  I too would love pals to keep me motivated.  We can motivate each other!  Any tips and tricks would be great.  Add me too!

Just keep pushing through even if you repeat weeks. I started the C2K program back in May. Took me 13 weeks to finish it but I can now run for an hour. I lost 55 lbs over that time too. It works! Good luck.

Thank you txengineer.  I thought that it was just me and that I was just weak and not fit enough to do this.  I have repeated weeks a couple times.  Congratulations to you on your weight loss.  Wow, to run for an hour!!??  I am proud that I made it 5 minutes over the weekend.  LOL.

I am new to FitBit.  Just received my FitBit One and set it up last night.

I started C25K in July and did pretty good until I hurt my knee.  I've "never" been a runner and assumed everyone knew how to run.  Nope, not me, I was running heel to toe just as I would walking.  I've watched several vidoes on running/jobbing and trying to teach myself to not land on my heel has been challenging.  My shins hurt but I have definition in my calf muscles that I've never had.

After 4 weeks of rest, I returned to the program at the same time my kids were returning to school.  Their activities/games after school are hindering my running.  I have one in college playing soccer and one in jr high playing football, soccer, and baseball.  I am finding it hard to find time to run.  Hopefully, with my new FitBit making my run time a priority will be easier.

Is there anyway for you to run while they are at practice? I take my 12 year old to practice and then do laps around the field.

And there is no shame in repeating weeks. When I first started I had to lay down after the workout or risk puking everywhere. Just go at your own pace and you will get there.

Finding the time is hard, but we just have to stay commited.  I have to force myself some mornings, in the end it will be worth it. I really like the idea that it doesnt have to be done exactly as in the program. We can repewt a workout if needed. I may be on week 4 for a couple weeks! Lol.

I am auntyfred on mfp. I started the c25k plan last week. I am a grandmother who has never found running easy. I've managed to do the first day ok, don't know how far I will be able to go through the plan but I'm sticking with it for now. Not in any hurry so might not do it at the rate suggested.

I haven't thought about running while he's practicing because it's still so hot. I usually run around 7p when the sun starts setting and it begins cooling off. I did decided to start walking again during my (30-min) lunch break. That will at least get me moving again and help get me in shape for when I do start the C25K program over because I really do miss it. Wow never thought I would say that. 🙂

Hey!
I'm also on MFP & have been for over a year. The hubby & I just got fitbits. My coworker has shared a C25K program involving zombies. It's an app! It's been two weeks and I have yet to start. Our besties got fitbit's as well and want to do more like 5k's but I am very out of shape & can't jog for more than a block while they are running miles.
I have 80-90lbs to lose & very experienced raising kids as I raised my siblings as my parents were not able. Children take everything to grow but they also need us to be strong heathy role models. I fell into a depression and a lot of carbs/poor nutrition. My life is on the up-tick having just bought a house & gotten married. Figuring out how to prioritize my health among all these other priorities has been quite a journey. Keeping it fresh and adding new things is helping me stay on target. Friend me if you like. Support on MFP has proven to bring more success than going it alone. I assume the same applies here!

Hey Zombie run is fun but it's more of an increase your time on a 5k. If you aren't used to running it can be a little frustrating. That being said do not let only being able to run a block discourage you. That's great you can do that! If you keep at it you will be whipping some butt at 5k's. So far I am down 85lbs with most of that being using couch to 5k. Good luck!!
