Calorie Deficit Confusion

Losing weight has been difficult for me but I decided to get a Fitbit Inspire HR so I was more in tune with my body.

I set up a goal in the app with a 750 calorie deficit. I connected my app to My Fitness Pal where I log my eating. Today I haven't walked as much I have in the days prior (about 8000 steps today compared to typically 10,000). I'm done eating for the day and I have taken in 1222 cals and have burned 1606.

My confusion comes from this: the app says I have 43 calories left but the metre says that I've reached my goal and I have overeaten my caloric limit. I thought that the deficit was supposed to be calculated into the amount of calories "left to eat" for me. Or should I stop eating when it says 750 cals left?

So are the numbers you gave us for a complete 24 hour period? If they are you have a deficit of around 400.

If you still have some time left in the day you might burn another 300 or so just in sedentary mode before midnight and still hit your 750 deficit target since you are finished eating.

1600 calories doesn't sound like enough for a whole day if you walked around at all.

I've never used the app you talk about so i can't speak to that.

On the phone app, the main page (the one with steps, calories, activity summary) it shows your current calories expended + future estimated calorie burn up to midnight.  In the food log the app only shows current calories eaten and current calories expended.
