@Anna1981- it depends on your age, gender, height and current weight.  If I do nothing, and I mean nothing, I burn 1872 calories a day.  That's my BMR, or an approximation of it.  Using the tools at:

http://www.fat2fittools.com/tools/bmr/

I put in my own statistics and get 1884, so pretty close.  As I have a lot of weight left to still lose I use a goal weight closer to where I am.  It tells me that if I'm lightly active I can eat 2489 calories to get to that goal weight.  I'm closer to moderately active, however, I do eat 2500 calories a day and I lose weight on that amount.  I usually burn somewhere between 3500 and 4000 calories a day.

So, depending on what time of day, and your own personal information, that 2226 calories is likely close to what you've done.

no there is no need to reset it. You do want to make sure you have all your information logged in accurately as far as weight, etc. If you are on the heavier side, you will naturally burn more calories just by doing normal ordinary things. If you add activity to it, you will of course increase the amount burned. You can test out the accuracy by using an online BMR calculator to compare. Of course the online will not take HR into consideration if your tracker has that function. One thing to keep in mind, none of it is 100% accurate. The best thing to do is to start with what it says and depending on your fitness goals and results, adjust your caloric intake.

In addition to the great replies you have received, check this link (similar to the one provided by @A_Lurker, but no need to register) for definitions of BMR and TDEE. Yes, everyone (even total couch potatoes!) burns calories doing nothing, as long as they manage to stay alive.
