Calories burned slowing down?

Hi Everyone!

So I've had my Fitbit Alta HR now for 3 weeks.  I've been watching everyone on it like a hawk, from how many steps I average, to calories burned etc.  My first week, everything was great.  I was hitting my daily goal of 3.5k calories burned every day, doing normal exercise and walking around 7k steps a day.  Everything was accurate, perfect, and lining up.

Fast forward to week three, and I've noticed my calories burned has dipped.  I've actually been walking more (or at the least, the same), and getting the same amount of exercise.  Nothing in my routine has altered.  Yet, when I go to bed, I noticed my calories burned is hovering around 3.2k (last night I barely broke 3.1k).  I'm essentially burning 300-400 calories LESS a day then when I started, and I'm confused on why this is?  Was it because the first week was a "shock" to my system or something?

The only changes I can think of is that i stopped taking Lumiday (over the counter calming/relaxation medication), and my sleep has been really poor this week (according to Fitbit, that is).  Could either of these factor in to the decrease of calories burned?

I'm really confused by this, and I'm hoping it's not a trend...

Thanks!!!

You are getting more fit @Guimond777, congrats!

The better conditioned you get, the less difficult those works outs get.

Amazing first 21 day progress, well done!

I remember a couple years back I could sit after a long trek and be in the "fat burn zone" for 10 to 20 minutes after sitting down, now, I just slow my pace a bit and I fall out of the zone.

Check this real-world comparison out, comparing similar activities 4/1/17 to yesterday. Heart so much stronger in a short time with less to carry around the track:

note burn zone ramp up slower and ramp down faster with daily exercise, same track same hills, different HR and calorie reactions.

Have you been losing weight and logging it? Fitbit takes weight into account to translate exercise into calories. For instance to take 1000 steps, it takes more calories of work the more you weigh because you are  moving more weight.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
