Chats, Challenges & Laughs 2nd home

ANSWERED

For all my Chats, Challenges & Laughs peeps! Since we can't get on the threads I thought I would start a discussion area for us. We may not be able to keep track of points standings easily but we can still talk.

I miss you!

When all is said and done I only managed a 1 for Tuesday!

I had a 4 1/2 hour meeting scheduled for the afternoon which only lasted 3 1/2 but I still couldn't use the treadmill workstation so didn't get my steps. I stayed late to finish up a couple of things so didn't get to the gym in time for a 30 minute workout on the eliptical - only got in 25. I missed my water by an ounce or two - how does that even happen and tracking??? I had quite the binge last night and can't even remember everything I ate to write it down. Had I just worked out in the morning, I'd probably have managed a 3 or a 4!

I ate over 2200 calories yesterday.  I logged them but I also feel them.

This morning I intended to take some sinus medicine and go back to bed, but my good voice pointed out that I was already up.  I went to the gym and did 30 minutes of speed intervals on the treadmill (just barely burned 200 calories as I can't walk faster than 3.2 without stumbling) and then lifted some weights.  I then fixed my healthy breakfast and lunch, showered and came to work.  So at 10 this morning, I had a little over 7,000 of my daily 10,000 steps!

Margaret, it really does set the right tone for my day if I just get up and work out first thing.

Sherry, Sherrie, and others:  We miss you.  Come find us.

I'm hoping I'm not coming down with the office plague...fell asleep on the couch last night around 10:30 (out like a light-instantly) got up to go to bed about 11:45/midnight and couldn't sleep. Finally got to sleep around 1:30. Today I'm tired, my eyes are burning, my throat is scratchy and I feel like I'm feverish.

Could be sick....could be lack of sleep....could be fighting off something.....who knows?

Almost forgot. Regarding the 17 year old body - I would LOVE to have it back, soooo much lighter and flexible with lots of energy. The thing is I never liked my body at that age. I had a poochy tummy, a larger butt and heavier thighs that I was always self conscious of. But if I had it back now, boy would I flaunt it!

Non-scale successNon-scale successI've had this 1/2 bar hershey's bar in my desk drawer at work since 1/22/18; the beginning of my WW journey.  I liked it back when, but don't want to 'give up the points' for it.  I've kept it "just in case", but threw it aware today.  Absolutely, no desire to hang on to any longer.  I can't remember what the thread was called - NSV's or something ... feeling pretty victorious 🙂

@Cele21, I hear what you are saying about your 17 year old body.  Same thing - felt fat because my thighs / stomach were bigger than 'the other girls'.  I wish there had been more of the body awareness / acceptance campaigns out.  What we do to ourselves mentally - torture!

Missed my steps again. Came in early for Tabata this morning. Next week I should be able to get back to my morning workouts.

Congrats on that NSV CJ!

Regarding my 17 year old body - I think I weighed 119 and thought I was fat! Fast forward 10 years to when I was getting married weighing 126 and my mom made a comment that I was too skinny. I felt comfortable in my own skin at that point and remember thinking she didn't know what she was talking about. A few years later (after I had put on about 5 - 10 lbs) I remember looking at pictures from my bridal shower and having an ah ha moment when I realized why my mom had made that comment - I really had been TOO skinny.

At 23, I weighed 123.5 and my boyfriend (the jerk) said, and I quote, "Lose 10 more pounds and I'll marry you".  You see, I still had a stomach.  We broke up shortly thereafter, but I think in three years he did enough damage for the next 30+ years as far as my body image.  I wish I would have / could have believed my husband back when I met him 16 years ago (I was 172 lbs) that I he thought my body was just fine.  Gained 50 lbs, then went on a liquid diet and lost the weight, but had my goal set at 155 so I still felt like a failure and too fat.  So, instead of accepting my body, I went ahead and started regaining again, back and forth, back and forth until I hit 280.  I know we all have our own stories (and I love reading them), but I just needed to write it out.  I'm done with that.  At 58, I'm ready to get healthy; lose weight...to hopefully end this knee and hip pain and get ready to be an active older, but wiser (and happier) woman.

Put my flex on the charger this morning while I showered aaaaaand forgot to put it back on. Won't get any steps counted until after I get home today. But, making my step goal is one of the areas I struggle with anyway so it's ok.

I still think I'm fighting some illness. Yesterday I was headachy, flushed (felt like I had a fever), sluggish and nauseated. Was going to go grocery shopping in the evening, laid down to take a 45 minute nap to fight the headache and the hubby let me sleep until 10 pm (they ate leftovers). Dozed back off until 11:30 and then I was wide awake and hungry. Ate a quick PB&J, drank some water (I think the fever broke while I was asleep) and stayed awake until 2:15.

Good news is today I feel great! Refreshed, invigorated, and productive so maybe I kicked it early.

Tomorrow hubby has another CT scan so I might not get on the boards. If not, I hope you all have an excellent weekend!

@CJ_Here - My weight journey also has to do with a man. Guy I dated after high school was overweight (his whole family was) and he never wanted to do anything different so fast food or pizza and stay in to watch movies/TV. Also 3 years wasted and 40 lbs gained. Lost him, met my now hubby and we joined a gym (3 times a week), worked out at home together, went for walks/runs, and I lost the 40 lbs. Then we got married, and comfortable, and money was tight. Stayed in more eating fast food and watching movies. Gained some back, got pregnant, gained more. Never lost it, got pregnant again, gained more. Never lost it. And as I aged slowly gained even more to end up 75 lbs heavier than I want to be and closer to 100 lbs heavier than I started (high school) - in technical terms, obese. Tried various diets and fads and never stuck with them. Joined fitbit and while I have only lost about 7 lbs in four years I have stuck with it. It is slow and I am learning or re-learning a lot about myself. I fall often but keep getting back up. And with friends like all of you, I know I can succeed. Thank you all!

Woo Hoo on moving marble # 2 Sherrie.

To all, we're making a lifestyle change, losing weight and getting more active to be healthy. Breaking all those 20, 30, 40 or even 50 year old habits that got us to where we are today isn't going to happen overnight. The important thing to remember is to get up when we fall, not to give up etc. etc. My WW leader has told us many times, it's not a race, we each have to do what works for us. For me, I have to focus on one thing at a time until it's a habit. I am absolutely there with the activity and my mindset. I have made some progress on the food but still have a long way to go. I will be purchasing shares in a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) for the first time this summer so that will help in getting more (and different) veggies into my meal plans.

My hell week is almost over. Didn't manage to get everything I needed to done by the end of the day yesterday (and the world didn't come to an end!) but am almost there today!

I think I had the same bug except I wasn't nauseous.  My head was splitting and I felt weak and achy.  I've had a sore throat for over a week now and I still attribute it to draining sinuses because it doesn't change.  Not totally fine today but the headache is tolerable.

I was always able to control my weight because I was athletic. In my high school days, if we gained some weight, we just skipped lunch for about a week.  In my late thirties, I went on an antidepressant and gained 30 pounds immediately.  That was about the time my kids were in sports so after work, I would pick up the kids, drive through for junk dinner, sit at ballgames, then go to a fast food place with the other families for the after-game social time.  My weight has continued to creep upward since.

My mother wasn't much of a cook - everything came out of a can or the freezer.  I've had chronic headaches my whole life and Excedrin was the only thing that helped.  Since I've been eating cleaner, whole foods, my headaches have decreased and the past month or so, I've not taken Excedrin, even for the worst of my headaches (like yesterday).  I had a chiropractor appointment this morning and my blood pressure was normal!  I knew NSAIDs were bad for continued use, but stopping that cycle has really made a difference.
