I have decided since it is 90 days til Christmas the best gift I can give myself is better health. In the past 9 months I have slowly lost 40lbs give or take usually stays a between 35-40lbs. I would like to lose another 20lbs + by Christmas. This would put me at almost the halfway point for my weight loss. I was doing paleo for a while but found myself bingeing on cheat meals and eating way to many things that I shouldn't. So now I have decided no foods are off limit I will log every bite of everything and if I choose to eat more than allotted for my activity I will have to be more active to stay within my calorie deficit for the day and see how everything goes from there. Feel free to join me on this journey. Also add me as a friend so we can challange each other.

That's what I do, no food is off limits. Think of your calories in as a budget. I can spend what I have left. Sometimes I just don't think the cost is worth it. Sometimes I'll spend less on breakfast and lunch in order to have more for dinner.
Good luck!

That is my goal so nothing is off limits. I have decided if I really want something special I will either eat less the day before to make up those calories for a special day or I will figure out other two meals worth of calories plus whatever I really want to eat however many calories it puts me over I will just move to burn off the excess so I don't feel deprived. However I do weigh and measure every bite as well to ensure I am not underestimating what I am eating caloriewise.

Diets that forbid some kinds of foods are indeed more likely to fail, so welcome to flexible dieting, where nothing is off-limits! As long as total calories are in check, you should be fine.
20 pounds in 12 weeks requires a theoretical average daily deficit of 833 calories. If you have a lot to lose, it may be realistic. If you are closer to your goal, it may be a bit high. Also make sure it doesn’t cause you to eat less than your BMR (this can be a problem especially with shorter and/or older women).
I won’t be joining you, as my goal for the next two months is opposite: eating at a surplus to gain some muscle. All the best in your endeavour in any case!

I love the idea of 15 pounds by Christmas! Five pounds a month sounds not only realistic but it sounds achievable. I will gladly join this challenge. I have been on and off diets for most of my adult life, but have decided this time I do not want to diet anymore. No forbidden foods. I want to make smart choices, plan my day out in the morning, inputting it into the FitBit log, and trying to stick with the plan. I need to fix my bad eating and drinking habits or I will continue to yo-yo forever. The time has come to do it right! This will be the best Christmas present I've given myself in a long time!

15 pounds in 12 weeks requires an average daily deficit of 625 calories. Just to convert it into a numerical format .

Yeah I have right 100lbs still to lose so shouldn't be to much of a undertaking to lose 20lbs or at least I hope not. But with thyroid disease its hard to tell. Any loss is a step in the right direction.

@Purplepiggie, count me in! Over the past 6-1/2 months I've lost 44 pounds, and have 14 more to lose. The difference is that my 14 more to lose is to goal, whereas yours will put you half way. But I'm unclear how to do the "friend" thing on Fitbit, so I may not do that. For me, nothing is off-limit in the diet portion of my plan except for (sometimes) sugary treats because they have so many calories. A piece of cake or a danish is 1/3 of an entire day!
Anyway, I'll be rooting you on! Onward and Downward, as they say!

@tractorlegs: to friend someone from the community, just click on their community profile, then on Go to Fitbit.com profile:
You will then be able to add that person as friend:
Note that some people use a different handle in their Fitbit profile and in their community profile (for instance, Purplepiggie in the community is Chasity in Fitbit. Other people have the same handle (for instance, I’m Dominique on both).
