Christmas Weight Loss Challenge

I have decided since it is 90 days til Christmas the best gift I can give myself is better health. In the past 9 months I have slowly lost 40lbs give or take usually stays a between 35-40lbs. I would like to lose another 20lbs + by Christmas. This would put me at almost the halfway point for my weight loss. I was doing paleo for a while but found myself bingeing on cheat meals and eating way to many things that I shouldn't. So now I have decided no foods are off limit I will log every bite of everything and if I choose to eat more than allotted for my activity I will have to be more active to stay within my calorie deficit for the day and see how everything goes from there. Feel free to join me on this journey. Also add me as a friend so we can challange each other.

@Hebert1984 - you just post.  Usually people pick a goal weight and then post between the start and the finish (most weekly).  You can post daily, weekly, whatever your choice.  Also, if you have questions along the way - just ask.

@Hebert1984 Yay, you found it! I sent you a friend request. You can post here saying what your goal is. And then people check in once a week saying their progress. I talk too much, as you can imagine, and usually blab daily. It's good to see you!

Ok, checking in. Down another .8 pounds for a total of 1.2, still 18.8 to go as I am trying to do the 20 pounds by Christmas. Having some troubles with my fitbit staying charged, tried resetting it so hopefully that helps. Also tracking food more carefully!

Great to see all the success!

Well I am down a pound!! woo hoo! BUT, I walk in the break room at work and they have made fruit dip... We all know just because the first word is fruit, doesn't make it healthy. I soooo love this stuff. But after I weighed this morning and am down a pound, I am so doing my best to stay strong and stay away from the break room. I am trying to find motivation where ever I can. I am hoping to make my goal in this challenge especially since I didn't make it in the last.

I guess for me, I am going to use this as sort of a blog. I will type my victories and my failures and so how I think that may help me become more aware and accountable. Then if anyone wants to chime in... feel free. We all need all the encouragement we can get! As sad as it is to say, Christmas will be here before we know it.

With Thanksgiving coming up, praying to remain strong for all the goodies I know will be in my path!

@Suzi86 So what is the slimming group. I am trying to do this what the Dr calls the "right" way... Eating better and exercise. BUT, I don't know that anyway, is the right way for all of us... So many are doing different things that are working for them. I guess I enjoy reading about all of them and who knows each may tweak us in one way or another..... So I am curious what the slimming group is. Heaven knows I need encouragement where ever I can find it.

During the last challenge, I lost 15.5 lbs. However, with the holidays involved on this challege, I'm worried that I won't quite hit my goal of -2 a week. I'm allowing a little wiggle room (let's go ahead and call it what it is - pie room) for this challenge. Sweets are my downfall and the holidays bring an onslaught of 'em! Let's just hope the will power is strong this go around. Good luck everyone!

I would like to join as well!  I'll try to remember to weigh in tomorrow morning when I get up.

I am going to set my goal to lose 10 pounds by Christmas, which is a little more than a pound a week.

Halloween set me back. Not the candy just the adult parties and exhaustion
the next day. I'm back on track today. I really need to crack down on MFP.
I feel like it's so overwhelming.

Any diet tips that you're finding successful or go to meals?

Thanks!

I don't know about you, but I like to hard-boil a bunch of eggs in advance for a quick-and-easy breakfast. Even if combined with a fruit, that works for a while.

I also did buy those protein meal bars from Aldi. They help a bit. I also have veggie broth. Baby carrots and hummus work in a pinch as well.

I have walked three days this week and am down a pound, so hoping to knock off one more pound before I officially weigh myself on Monday. I weighed myself today because I could not wait, but I won't log the stats till Monday.

I'm almost at 8,000 steps today so hoping to get to 15K by the end of the day since I almost hit that point yesterday! 🙂

@onestepadatime - meal planning is still somewhatI fall down on.  I've got some changes coming in my personal life in just over a week and I'm hoping to get back to it.  I have a couple of quick go to dishes that use boneless chicken thighs.  You can use chicken breasts but they are much easier to overcook.  I'll toss them in a non-stick frying pan with (one of):

- salsa thinned down with a little water

- bbq sauce thinned down

- apricot jam with ginger & chicken broth

You're basically poaching them in a liquid that you can boil down at the last minute.  I'll toss some frozen vegetables on after about 10 minutes, and then serve over a baked brown & wild rice blend I usually have in the fridge.

@A_Lurker, your meal suggestions sound delish. I've never tried apricot jam -- not a fan of apricots -- but imagine it would go well with the rest of the ingredients for a sauce. I'm always up for chicken dinner suggestions.

Still doing OK today with weight -- no gain, no loss. Took an hour walk yesterday (funny how a good chat with a friend makes the hour feel like much less) so hoping for the same today. Only downfall this week is not as much housework has been done. I'm a little tired. But that's temporary as I build my stamina.

Happy Friday, everyone!

A quick post today.  I'm running on way too little sleep and I couldn't sleep in.  I'm going to go do the shopping, do some food prep, clean the pool, finish the laundry and maybe fit in a nap somewhere along the way.  I did 8 days of maintenance eating.  I was going to do 10, but didn't eat enough yesterday during the day for my activity level so decided to call it a day.
