Dropping the pounds the right way?

ANSWERED

Hi all!

Still loving the healthy eating and exercise lifestyle! Feeling more energetic each day and a lot more confidence!

This evening though, I seem to be doing lots of Youtube research on not eating enough for weight loss. I am currently making good progress, losing 1 stone and 9lbs in about two - three weeks! I hear it is fast at first, then the speed slows down after a while.

I typically consume between 1500-1900 calories per day using the Fitbit app for calorie counting, I am pretty strict with what calories they are by sticking to greens, fruits, chicken and seeds/unsalted nuts (monkey buts, almonds etc). Like I said, I feel great! But of course eating too little will causes damage, I also keep hearing that the body can use muscle for fuel if needed (even if I still have lots of bodyfat) and you can get into something called 'starvation mode' as well. Not sure how true these things are, but it can be quite scary for someone like me with little nutritional knowledge!

I am a 6ft 3, 22.1 stone male. I am active everyday now, have been for a few weeks using the stationary bike at home for 1 - 1.5 hours a day doing some light to moderate spinning, walking 2 - 5 miles per day and I am going to start throwing weight/bodyweight circuits into the mix very soon. My Fitbit tells me I am burning like 5 - 6k calories per day from logging my workouts and wearing it during the day and night. Again, not sure how true this is as well, seems like a lot!

Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you :D.

I actually experienced something similar to what you mentioned earlier, it got to a point where I was eating far less calories than what I needed for the day. I'm definitely not trying that diet again, because I did read that your body can use muscle for fuel if needed 😥

I have a much healthier diet now and try to combine a good amount of protein, good carbs, vitamins and to reduce sugar and salt consumption in combination with physical activity. I've had much better results since then.

I can't do a lot physical activity due to a problem in my back, but I find swimming to be incredibly effective to reach fitness goals. 😁
