Welcome to the next challenge!!!
Our challenge starts Easter March 27th through Memorial Day May 30th. (USA holiday)
To be part of the challenge you start by posting your initial weight stats and what you would like to achieve by the end of the challenge. You can then check in as often as you'd like with a weight update, to share a story from your week or start a conversation about a topic you'd like some advice on.
Welcome to all our new members, old timers, and anyone who is just following our challenge! Let's continue to work hard, meet our goals, and most important, give each other the encouragement and positive thoughts to keep all our spirits up!
Thanks to @saraj91 for the last challenge! Hope to see you again in here 🙂
A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new:
USW- Ultimate Starting Weight
CSW- Current Starting Weight
GW- Goal Weight
UGW- Ultimate Goal Weight

I love your response to DJC as it was so direct and caring. I agree that it good to see the people here making progress toward better health.
You have been through quite an ordeal with your foot surgery. Jerky surgeons should definitely follow up or have a specialist who does just that. Glad that you are moving about now.
My knee is better now and I'm trying to stretch after each dance lesson so I don't hurt it again.
Just 2 weeks and a day from my next dance performance of a waltz and a foxtrot in an adult student showcase.
About the weight though, the scale read 149.2 this morning. This is frustrating to continue going in the wrong direction while being active and eating pretty carefully. Maybe it will be better in the morning.
Off to sleep for me,
Barbara G

I've lost 5# so far for this challenge!!! I am finally getting 10K+ steps (most days). Doing Jillian Michaels Shred 3x a week and shooting hoops with the boy. It's also a busy time with farming around my place this week...it's hay baling time! Took Tuesday off to help the hubby...He tosses me the bales and I stack them. We did 103 bales that morning! Then it was off to the field where we baled 82 more...we are waiting til this weekend to stack those - my arms need to recouperate lol
I did end up running a virtual 5K this past Sunday. My son & his friend came along to cheer me on. ironically the neighbor's dog decided to join in on the fun as well and the race I was running was for Animal Cruelty Awareness so I thought that was pretty neat. Our time ended up being 47:34 --- I was aiming for 45:00 but I still have 2 more races that I have signed up for to help keep me moving through the summer - we shall see!! My goal for this challenge is to get to at least 109.0 so I can reach my first 5% loss milestone.
What will be our next challenge? Ya'll have been very inspiring & encouraging #KeepMovingForward

@Chlz1997 congrats on completeing your virtual 5k & the 5lb loss for this challenge! Top work!
Good point as well about the next challenge. What do you all think would be a good amount of time?
How about June 1st to July 4th? That's about 5 weeks or so...

Thank you @saraj91
I would be up for a short but sweet one for the next round - makes the whole time feel like "crunch time"! So going until July 4th works for me - but I'm pretty much up for anything as long as this group is involved!!

Checking in as i haven't in a few weeks. I can't believe May is about over.
SW- 152 (3/27)
PW- 151 (4/3) -1lb
PW- 149.6 (4/19)
PW- 146.2 (4/27)
PW- 151.6 (5/3)
PW- 153.2 (5/9)
PW- 154.9 (5/16)
CW- 154 (5/23)
GW- 145 by 5/28
My weights been between 152-155 for the last few weeks. Its frustrating and i must admit I have fallen off the wagon... stopped logging food after a 100+ day streak. So no point on dwelling on it. I will just be happy to be back at my SW (152) for this challenge. Last week i was super active hitting my 10k everyday including the weekend which is big for me as i rarely hit 5k on those days. I totally felt it on monday. Moving forward.
I did do a 5K with my daughter on Saturday through a great after school program for girls called "Girls on the Run". It was her first 5K. She was proud of herself and we did it in about 46 minutes, not sure of the exact time as i forgot to start my fitbit at the beginning of the run, So i had to use the time stamps from my photos. Shes not really a runner but a swimmer.
Our summer swim season begins this coming week so I know I will be hitting my steps. So does School vacation so I will be busy chasing kiddos. That should help right? Plus being in the garden has me moving.
I plan to start logging my food again. Upping my water as I have let that slide as well. I'm still walking/jogging almost daily. If I dont run with my dogs i at leasttake them for a short walk. We have finally hit summer in terms of weather here in north IL and it was nice for the few days that were in the 70's but now its 80's and humidity. yuck. my kids first words in the morning walking to the bus are "its moist out here" I know the weather is only going to get hotter. So I will have to figure out the right time to go jogging as I have to consider how my dogs will handle it.
My real hurdle in weight loss is food. I love junk food. I dont keep it in the house other wise i will devour it but My husband brings it home and knows my weaknesses. I need more self control. Things to work on huh? Just have to make sure to log things and be mindful of am i hungry or bored or do i even want to eat this?
Congrats to you all who are seeing losses and changes. Keep on, its motivating and for the rest of us keep pushing.

Count me in !!
I have hernia operation on 4th July, so it is a milestone all round
Started this weightloss on 25th January @ 190.2lbs and got the fitbit 40lb today, so it is all looking good.
Did 5k run on treadmill last night in 26 mins, and this weeks day 2 of 5:2 diet today. Don't have any negative thoughts at the minute, but half expect no movement on the scales in the morning. This weightloss is most definately character building.
Will be over the moon if the scales say 149 something - fingers crossed !!

good news this morning. The scale said 147.8 so that is a relief. Now 5 days to get to 146.
I read a long and scary article in the newspaper which was a follow up on greatest loser program from 2009. It basically reported that our metabolism slows down so we can easily regain the weight since we would need to eat far fewer calories to maintain our new weight. It seems that the hormone Leptin, and several others that work with it, diminish markedly, so we don't get the satiated message to let us know we are full! Help. Now that was a study about rapid weight loss with days of massive exercise. Most everyone of the champion losers gained at least part of their starting weight back. Dang! I lost 20 and regained 16 back as of yesterday and 15 back as of today. Hopefully going slowly and staying more active we can keep in off and learn to drink water when we have hunger gnawing at us. Most important is getting into the healthy weight zone and staying there. It is hard not to eat when we are hungry but if the body thinks were are starving and we are not then I'm going to have to start tracking my food again. The metabolism seems to think the prior higher weight is the set point to be returned to again & again. So I need to move more and eat less and that is that.
Happy getting healthy everyone.
Keep on keeping on,
Barbara G

Wonderful to learn of you and your girl running together. I like your photos you shared too. Junk food does not like you it only wants to make you sick! Save you and your girl from it. Consider telling hubbie exactly what you want him NOT to bring home and what you like instead. Loving means listening to your partners better self.
I also went up instead of down this challenge but today I started dropping. Let's see what we can do in the last 5 days. Si, se puede!
Best wishes for healthy food and bodies,
Barb G

@dancefoxtrot Thanks so much for your concern, as always. I'm so glad your knee is doing better. We have both been through our ordeals, such is life, but we go on to dance - in the broadest sense of the word - again. And that is something to be grateful for.
I am sooo excited about your performance. Any chance it will be videoed? and you can post? It was such a delight to see you waltz. I am living out my dance fantasies through you
When I started trying to lose weight a full year ago, I did everything right for a few months before the scale moved. That was so frustrating. Then the weight fell off. Now, since my latest round of health stuff, I weigh more than ever. I am not even weighing myself again yet, not until I can be more active, and I am prepared for my body to think this new heavier weight is where it should be. Sheesh! Just hang in there, it will come down again. Just try not to get too crazed looking at the scale. You are taking good care of your health and that is the important thing. You'll get there!

July 4 sounds great. I don't recognize the person who started the challenge. They will be quite stunned if all of us go over there en masse!

Completely random post below.
If you are trying to increase your water intake, stop fudging around with piddly 6-12oz oddly shaped boring drinking glasses and get yourself a mammouth cool shaped glass that you will enjoy drinking from multiple times every day. I picked up a 18oz cone shaped beer glass that is super easy to chug water down with. If you fill the large glass up it will be harder to leave a little bit in the glass vs filling an 8oz glass, fininshing it, then forgetting to refill it or simply no wanting to refill it again(call me lazy).
Completely random post above.

@Bobbinyc & @OCDOC
Yeah I thought the same thing that it was someone from here had set up the next challenge already but it appears to be a different group of fitbitters .
I'm more than happy to set up the next challenge to follow on from this one with the same people. Or I can send a message to the persona that started that group & check if they're happy that we all turn up there in a few days. What does everyone think?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought @awood08 set up this challenge and although I know she has a lot on her plate at the moment and its only a few short days to Memorial Day, I would personally be happier if this was @awood08 supporting this new challenge. I too still have some pounds to lose and up for another challnge and this group is an awesome group to be in. Personally I have neither lost or gained this week, so another challenge will be good. Best wishes everyone.

Hi @RubyH yes, @awood08 did set up this challenge, we've sort of been taking it in turns to set up the challenges for the last few & as she set up this one I thought I'd offer to do the next one, however if @awood08 would like to set up the next one & people would be happier with that then it's all good with me either way. Happy to go with the group
Happy Friday all, my weight bounced back up 1lb this week, not sure why, didn't go OTT on anything but oh well.. just one of those things I guess. What goes up must come down (I hope lol). Will do another full final check in on Monday.

Hi, guys,
I just want to say I don't want to lose this challenge group either. I would be lost without you! Just let me know where to sign up for the next one and I'm there! If @saraj91 doesn't mind being our fearless leader again to start the challenge that would be awesome.
Happy Friday everyone!

The 'new' thread seems to emulate the spirit of these ones; even the title is the same format. What's missing is the description of the acronyms we all use..this is prob the best reason to have a veteran like sara91 open the new one.
As long as we have a new home, I'm not too fussy 🙂 Rob K
