Welcome to the next challenge!!!

Our challenge starts Easter March 27th through Memorial Day May 30th. (USA holiday)

Welcome to all our new members, old timers, and anyone who is just following our challenge! Let's continue to work hard, meet our goals, and most important, give each other the encouragement and positive thoughts to keep all our spirits up!

Thanks to @saraj91 for the last challenge! Hope to see you again in here 🙂

I joined this challenge first about a year ago. I believe dancefoxtrot was a fearless leader in those days.  In that time, the person starting has just rotated around.  It really doesn't matter.  I mostly like the idea of us sticking together. Smiley Happy

I am very excited to say that yesterday I was able to walk 3,000 steps with no pain!  I also did 1/2 hour of pilates on a mat (off my sore foot).  And I drank 6 glasses of water - a new record for me!

But I did eat some sugar.  It's not my fault!  A world class French pastry shop (you can smell the goods baking a block away) opened just blocks from me, right near the gym.  Now that I am driving and walking again, this will apparently require more effort than I thought.

@almost_where  Thanks so much for your "completely random post" about water. We all get stuck on different things and sharing tips is incredibly helpful.  I had been putting rubberbands around the glass every time I emptied it.  I like your idea better.  Thanks

I've posted it a few days early as I am away for the holiday weekend & didn't want to post it too late or close to the 1st day. It gives people plenty of time to pop on over when you like to post your stats. Hope you all have fun weekends! One final push to the finish line for this challenge, we got this! Smiley Happy

@Bobbinyc congrats on getting in 3000 steps with no pain! That's fab! That French pastry shop sounds amazing as well! My office is right next door to a cake shop & the smell 1st thing is so nice.. I may have indulged my sweet tooth once or twice in the year or so it's been open. Not too often, but when I do it's a good day at the office lol!

Ok... MIA for a while again...  wow- time flies when you are having fun (or not!).  I haven't checked in for a while, but figured I better get my finals on record before the weekend starts... I am losing slowly - sooooo slowly I get frustrated sometimes, but at least I am losing!  And I did finally break the 185 threshold this time - been battling to get below that 185 for several months & would hit it & bounce up.

CSW - 188 on Easter

CW - 183

CGW - 180

UGW - 160 (by Christmas?)

We are going camping this weekend & it ought to be quite interesting - grandma is going camping with the son/girl-friend & 2 grandbabies ROUGH!  No running water where we are going, but a spring close by...  no electric...  not sure how far (or IF) a bathroom/shower facility is from where we will be...  got to tote the stuff to the campsite - no parking at the site...  I did break down and bought me a comfortable camp cot, but it will be crowded when the chihuahua gets on there with me & he WILL sleep with me - lol...  I may be a cripple coming out of this weekend with the arthritis I have and the limit on moving I will have on that cot, but I will enjoy every minute of it!

Final check-in here; this has been a wonderful group! Milestone was cracking 200 for the first time in I-don't-know-how-long...

I'm holding on at 197..staying under 200 forever will suit me just fine.

@saraj91   I am shifting over to the new challenge you created..thx for setting it up!!  Rob K

@Brujita " My real hurdle in weight loss is food. I love junk food. I dont keep it in the house other wise i will devour it but My husband brings it home and knows my weaknesses. I need more self control. Things to work on huh?  Just have to make sure to log things and be mindful of am i hungry or bored or do i even want to eat this? "

I am the same way. I soo love my junk food but hubby keeps bringing it in. I will end up eating some but my main problem is learning to control. It's the same with all foods I eat. I have to learn to control the "amount" I consume. Yesterday we were getting ready to watch our TV shows. I grabbed one of those small ice cream bars (I laughed the first time I saw how small), and a bag of crispers with my water. After eating the bar, I finished crocheting a dishcloth. When we stopped watching TV to go to bed, I was very proud of myself. The bag of Crispers had not even been opened!!

Cookies and milk.....I can resist most junk (I love it all) but if I get a 'cookies and milk' urge I almost always surrender..takes me 2 days to burn it off!! (Probably worth it 🙂  )

Well it's getting close to the last post

This challenge has been memorable for lots of reasons, the hernia, a collapse (for a few days) the 40lb badge, the 3-0st and sub 150.

Also memorable for the 5k treadmill runs, support briefs and gallons of green tea.

I will even look at the painfull days with a degree of affection.

The next challenge will be different, but equally challenging.

Hope to see everyone on it, as posting and reading various comments helps to remind and focus what it is all about.

If Carlsberg made a community group, it would have to be this one.

Hi @saraj91, I am very happy to stay with the group, I do appreciate all of you but still being somewhat of a newbie did not understand the changes and I love this group, an awesome group.

My final weighin for this challenge came as a surprise. I got an infection and am on antibiotics and rest, no exercise of any kind so as to avoid any irritation to it, consequently I had to reduce my eating goals to stay with my 250-280 a day deficit and increase my fluids still more to 10 glasses to help flush out the by products of the infection, not easy. My weight has yo-yo'd from 59.8 kg to 60kg and back but this morning it dropped to 59.1kg another new low for me. Very pleased. It looks as tho the exercise and muscle gain had slowed my overall weight loss more than I thought it would. But I'm happy.

USW Jun,1, 2013, 84kg/ 185.2 lb

CSW Mar 31, 2016, 61.6kg/ 136.8 lbs

CW   May 28, 2016, 59.1kg/ 130.3 lbs, BMI 24.6

GW   130 lbs I didn't quite make it,

UGW 57kg/ 125.7-126 lbs, BMI 23.7

Okay…I’m weighing in two days before I usually do because I hit my modified goal, and I can’t wait to get on to the next challenge!

In my first post on this thread, I said that reaching my goal would put me at the top of what is considered the healthy weight range for my height—I didn’t quite get to 158, but I’m still in the healthy weight range at 163!

USW- 216 (12/5/15)

CSW- 176 (3/27/16)

PW-164.6 (5/22/16), 170 (4/24/16-5/15/16), 171 (4/17/16), 174 (4/9/16)

CW-163.6 (5/27/16)

GW- 164 (158, before grandma's house Smiley Wink)

UGW- Between 135-145

This next challenge will be all about getting closer to the middle of that healthy weight range where I want to be forever. Looking forward to continuing the journey with all of you!

@Brujita I certainly understand your feelings, especially about the heat and humidity! The weather is the same where I live -high 80's and humid now. I've been walking outside more since it's been warmer but I can't stand the humidity and my asthma doesn't like it either. I was lucky enough to live in Southern California for 5 years and it was so heavenly as far a the weather. I really hope to get back there some day, although I've noticed they have been getting hotter even near the coast.
I try to go to the gym or do a DVD inside on the worst weather days. I not have children, tho, so it's probably easier for me.

@bobbinyc. That's just wrong to put a French pastry shop beside a gym! Chocolate croissants are one of my all-time favorites. When I lived in SoCal I went to Champagne French bakery, they had the best chocolate croissants and raspberry filled ones with almonds. I loved that place.
Congrats on the 3,000 steps!! And mat Pilates is a great idea. One thing I've learned from the Fitbit community is that there is always some type of exercise that one can do. That said, I give you huge kudos for having such a good outlook when not able to walk much. We take for granted how much things mean until we can't do them. I hope that your foot will heal quickly!

Posting here before I switch to the new discussion group. Last weekend I was so frustrated and depressed that I didn't lose much in the way of inches and I had gained weight. I really wanted to give up, and right now this is the 1 thing in my life that gives me a sense of accomplishment. But I got nice messages from a few online friends (thank you so much, Bobbinyc)! Truly, those pulled me through Monday night. I cut back on my sodium this week and made a point to eat the most high cal foods early in my day. Something worked! Last week I was 197 and today I'm 191.8. Earlier in the week I was 193 for a few days, so I have hope that this is "real". A perfect example of why one should never give up!
As of 5/28:
USW - 207.5 (1/14/15)
CSW - 202 (1/1/16)
PW - 197 (5/22/16)
CW - 191.8 (5/28/16)
GW - 188.00

Have a good weekend, everyone!

USW-363 - March 9

Easter Weight - 353

Week 1 - 351

Week 2 - 348

Week 3 -  348

Week 4 - 344

Week 5 - 340

Week 6 - 336

Week 7 - 334

Week 8 - 329

Memorial Weight - 327

Memorial Goal  - 333

- 2 lb (26 lbs total)

My Memorial Day Last Year - Family members would resort to hiding the actual sweets/junk food from me because frankly I had little control and would end up eating them. It would trigger me big time then I would drive off and eat something like 2 mcdoubles, entire pack of apple turnovers then finish it off eating a bag of chips or something alone in my car.

My Memorial Day Weekend so far - They all know I have the fitbit routine thing going and took notice when I passed on dessert. Mysteriously now the desserts have shifted from being hidden inside the oven, or behind the coffee drawer to being stored in proper places out in the open. Sense of normalcy I'm feeling now is making everything worth it right now. Planning on getting some pizza slices (not the entire pie) to celebrate with then maybe pick up a new shirt or something.

I wish all of you continued success, big thanks to this entire community(future post coming) for the support and will look forward to the next challenge. Have a good weekend.

Went for a walk with Stepson & Daughter-in-law today with grandson. I pushed the stroller to aid in my walking. I didn't have sore hips or legs this time around but my breathing was still laboured. I'm hoping that even with the heart failure, that my breathing will get easier?? And I forgot to put my fitbit in my pocket so my steps are not showing.

Grats, self control is important as is portion control, portion control is a problem for me, say for example a bag of beef jerky, one portion? Before I'd end up eating the whole bag, I am checking the portion sizes and logging it to MFP and using it to control myself

Hey All,

Happy Memorial Day & God Bless all who have served our country and those who serve today.

Here are my final results:

USW 184
CSW 162.2
GW 157
CW 158.2
UGW 150 (subject to downward revision)

I did not reach my goal but I am very grateful that I did not gain and actually lost weight during this ongoing "annus horribilus" (to borrow a phrase from QEII).  Hope to be more actively on the boards in the next challenge.  Meanwhile, here's a toast to my Fitbit friends -- much love and applause to you all.

Hi all,

Checking in for the last time for this challenge, struggled for a bit to break the 135 mark but have managed to drop below it & stay there for a couple of weeks so it's nice to end this challenge on a positive. I was briefly down to 133 but that seemed to be only for a few days... not really sure why but it's all good! Had a lovely long weekend with a 5k parkrun, a beach walk & fun kick about at the park so all in all a nice way to end May.

Hope you all had good weekends & thanks for being such a positive & friendly group to be a part of. See you in the next challenge! Smiley Very Happy
