Easter to Memorial Day Challenge 2016

Welcome to the next challenge!!!

Our challenge starts Easter March 27th through Memorial Day May 30th. (USA holiday)

To be part of the challenge you start by posting your initial weight stats and what you would like to achieve by the end of the challenge. You can then check in as often as you'd like with a weight update, to share a story from your week or start a conversation about a topic you'd like some advice on.

Welcome to all our new members, old timers, and anyone who is just following our challenge! Let's continue to work hard, meet our goals, and most important, give each other the encouragement and positive thoughts to keep all our spirits up!

Thanks to @saraj91 for the last challenge! Hope to see you again in here 🙂

Hi all,

Checking in for the week & it was a week of maintaining for me. Not thrilled about it but it's all good, hopefully make more progress over the next week.

It was the first full week back at work & from holiday & it took me a good 5 days to fully get over the jet lag so that didn't help when it came to running & badminton, I got tired very quickly, so I don't think my work outs were as effective as they could have been. I went for a good 8km run this Tuesday which felt a bit better, slowly getting back into the swing of things.

Going to try & have a more active weekend & really try & watch what I eat. Would like to be 1lb down on my next weigh in. Have a fab weekend all!

When I started these amazingly helpful challenges on New Year's, my first 'Ultimate' Goal Weight was 210. As of today, I am UNDER my original New Year's Resolution...serious YAYYY!!!!

Things of note:

1) EVERYBODY at work comments on my change...feels good.

2) Wife is happy for me, but expressing concern about keeping it off etc..the usual sensible stuff.

3) I credit Neil Peart's drumming on 2112 for keeping me going during my HIIT workouts...the avatar stays.

Thank you again for this group; it's made a huge difference.  Rob K

Hi

Down 3 pounds this week. Don't really know how because I was hungry this week (stress at work) but did take it out on my workouts. Maybe I needed the extra calories to jump start my metabolism. I will take the loss!  Averaging about 12000 steps a day and 500 to 600 cal workouts 4 to 5 days a week. I am doing more cross training (more fun) does anyone else find that helps with weight loss?

Thanks for all the encouragement.

Despite working out every day I'm up almost 2lbs this week. My body fat % is down though! (according to my fitbit scale at least) I guess it's because my wedding anniversary was this past Tuesday and we celebrated a bit too much. We went out to eat a few times and I probably didn't pick the healthiest food, but it's ok. My birthday is on Monday, and I'm planning on keeping the celebrating to this weekend and Monday. I'm steadily using our bowflex max trainer every day - I do about 15 min on level 3 - and doing my daily burn exercise every day. I've been making smoothies in the mornings and cooking more at home. I started ordering Blue Apron meals, so that's been fun cooking with my husband and eating things I wouldn't necessarily eat.

Thanks @awood08!  I already signed up for the next one.  I'm glad it's working for you!  Makes me excited to try it.  I think a change in routine is always good to get things moving again on the scales.  Are you using the chick's protein powder?  I'm not going to buy it.  I have one that doesn't have sucralose in it that I have to use up.  I think I'll stick to it.

Thanks guys! And to the whole group 🙂

NSV...I went out and got 36 jeans (same make), expecting to use them as an incentive...I've already slid from 40 to 38. They fit PERFECTLY! When I came out of the change room, my wife finally said 'Okay...I'm going to try whatever the heck it is that's been working for you'.

If you knew my wife, you would know this is HUGE....she's watched so many fails over the years and rolls her eyes whenever I say I'm going to lose weight once and for all.    It's all good 🙂  TY again!  Rob K

@OCDOC,  You say, "If you knew my wife, you would know this is HUGE....she's watched so many fails over the years and rolls her eyes whenever I say I'm going to lose weight once and for all..."

I say,

Most of us did that in the past, but we did not have our fit-bit then, did we? Now we have the right tools, the "know how", and the motivation. So, purely for health sake, let us all keep it up!

Rergards!

Greetings all and congratulations @OCDOC,

USW June 1, 2013, 84kg (185.2 lb)

CSW Mar 31, 2016, 62.3kg (137.4 lb)

PW    Apr 1,              61.6kg (135.8 lb)

CW    Apr 9,              61.6kg (135.8 lb)

UGW                         57kg (125.7 lb) BMI 25.6

No loss this week but I have increased my calorie intake and my burn, may take my body a little time to adjust as I am a slow burner, lol. But I get in 30 mins a day on a walk or on the Powerfit, 2 days of resistance training and am getting 15mins a day in on the stationary bike, so I am shaking it up a little. Keep on persisting and you/we/I will get there. Have a great weekend.

@SunsetRunner Hey, are you using the new Alta? It has reminders to move and I'm finding those to be great. If not how about setting a reminder in your phone? Just make a little message pop up every (waking hour) to remind you to get in XXX# steps.  I have a (sedentary) office job, so I use an hourly reminder to take a lap around my office, I stop at the restroom and refresh my water while I'm at it. --And I make a long lap of it too. If you're working in an office setting and the weather is nice why not go for a loop around the building? Get a colleague to join you if you can.

@OCDOC That's great!! It's such a good feeling when you hit some of your goals. I believe you will keep it off as long as you are conscious of your activity levels and calorie intake, and you seem like the type who will.

Two weeks into the challenge for me! I spent about half of it on the road for a work conference. I had lots of meals in restaurants, but just did my best to pick the healthiest thing on the menu each time--even found a free app to help me do it (Restaurant Nutrition). Since the conference was in Long Beach, CA, I also spent evenings walking on the beach, which really boosted my step count. Now, glad to be back home in a regular routine.
