Can someone tell me how fat, protein and carbs are calculated? I enter my daily food. Fitbit adds up the grams of carbs, fat and protein. I double checked to make sure they added right. But if I have 64 grams of protein and 34 grams of fat, how can fitbit say that I have 24% fat and 20% protein? This makes absolutely no sense. Is there a hidden algorithm in the calculation? I am on Jenny Craig. Their menu provides approximately 60 grams of carbs, 20 of protein and 20 of fat on a daily basis. But how can I calculate that myself when I go off Jenny Craig if the entire calculation is off? 64 grams of protein and 34 grams of fat does not equal 20% protein and 24% fat, unless maybe you are using common core math.
Thanks,
Barb

Protein and carbs have 4 calories per gram. Fat has 9 calories per gram.
Let’s say you have 64g of protein, 34g of fat and 180g of carbs.
Protein: 64 x 4 = 256 calories
Fat: 34 x 9 = 306 calories
Carbs: 180 x 4 = 720 calories
---------------------------------------
Total: 1282 calories
Protein is 256 / 1282 = 20%
Fat is 306 / 1282 = 23.9%
Does that make sense?
