Firstly, Hello
And I hope I have not come across as rude but I am finding everything here very difficult to understand and am beginning to think I have wasted my money.
Just to add, before I go into detail I am not very technical and may not have set everything up right.
anyway,
Here's the long and short of it
it says that I have burnt 727 calories
but that I only have 231 left
666in/728 out
does this mean al I can eat for today is 231 calories?
Im really lost

As you progress through the day, it will adjust the calories you have left to consume based on the amount you've logged that you've eaten and the amount that you've burned through your activity. Expect that number to change periodically throughout the course of the day. The more activity you get in, the higher your calories you can consume. You might also check to see if your settings are as they should be (e.g., weight loss mode versus maintenance, etc) as that will also make a difference in your recommended calorie intake and output.
Good luck!
Jen

Hi
Thank you all for your replies (I am in the UK by the way so its 4pm here) but I am still mega confused
I have just walked the dogs 3 miles, when I check the dashboard online there are no steps registered (does it actually register the steps please - or do you have to manually input them?
just cheked my phone and it says
933 calories burnt
137 calories left - foodplan
666 calories in 934 calories out
it all seems so very wrong to me

If it doesnt show your activity it means your fitbit hasnt synced with your computer yet. If its on learning mode, it will eventually figure out your average and you will know the ballpark of what your calories will be each day. the number of calories it shows you to have left is based on the time of day, so every few minutes it updates the number of calories you can eat. (I am always negative when after I eat breakfast). Is your dongle plugged in? If you have a smartphone, check to see if your bluetooth is on, you can sync through that as well.

Thank you again, my phone it seems it not compatiable with the app, but I did put a fitbit app on there, ad this reads the same as my dashboard.
really ready to give up with it, BUT really do appreciated all of your help.
And yes, I do keep syncing it manually but still no steps showing

Did you try to force sync it? I can only speak to The One, but I assume the other FB devices have a force sync option as well.

Anna, I would like to suggest that you might find the APP LoseIt, which syncs with the activity info from your fitbit, a more "user friendly" way to track what you are eating, how many calories you have left, etc.. I find it less confusing and then rely on the fitbit to do what it was designed to do--track my activity! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestion Mary, much appreciated!
BUT!! good news, I sussed it out, took me three days - I love my fitbit now.

Anna- If you're looking at the gas gauge looking graphic on the Dashboard called Calories In vs. Out, I would ignore that. It's trying to tell you how much you've eaten compared to burned at this point in the day, which isn't very useful info and is really just confusing.
Good work sussing out your problems! If your Dashboard isn't showing your steps after a synch, then something isn't working.

Thanks Anna
Al is working well, relly pleased with it now
Just one area I still have queries
When sleeping do you wear the device inwards next the the skin, of outwards ?
and also, cannot seem to get a bed displaying on the fitbit, did I dream I saw this?

It doesn't matter which way the display faces. I haven't heard of any bed displays. You know how to start a sleep record? And you have the type of Fitbit that does track sleep, right?
