First Test - Weekend and Buffet

ANSWERED
Today is my first test. Last weekend I was busy all weekend so there wasn't a lot of tempation. This afternoon I'm watching football. I am suppressing my urge to munch. Then tonight we are going to a casino buffet with the in-laws.

Any suggestions on tracking my calories at the buffet or should I just scrap trying to count and just try to make healthy choices. One of my ideas is to not skip the salad bar like I usually do.

Thanks for listening.

@Ticitytaz by now I expect you figured how you would approach the evening and I hope it went well for you. My way to bypass those challenging times. Always eat before I go. Always have my food on me in case the buffet is not a good choice. And like you said hit the salad bar but beware the dressings. It is not what you are eating it the people you are sharing the time with that are important and while they may be hitting the desert... if asked why I am not... I reply... allergic... fasting for labs next week... or the truth... I am making better choices to improve my health and today is not my day for dessert.  Wishing you a successful journey!

Also I should get in a good number of steps wandering around the casino finding machines and tables to play all night. So that is a plus. Lol

Look at this an a golden opportunity!  Track by all means.  If you graze as you usually would, you will get some data about what the calorie load is.  If you make healthy choices while mentally noting what you might have chosen a month ago, you will get some good data as well.  Either way, track.  Don't go in hungry, though, and if you consume alcohol, you might notice that you adopt a "what the he*l" attitude as the evening at the casino goes on :).   Lastly, have the salad - add the dressing on the side -

Thanks for all the help. It went pretty good. I had a plate of salad, two small plates of food and sme bread pudding for desert. I felt like I over ate but not as much as I ussualy do at a buffet so I am going to call it a win. 🙂
