I just began working with a trainer (two times thus far). He gave me a rough draft meal plan entailing carbs/proteins three times a day, no carbs on last meal, and a protein shake. No snacks, no dairy, no fruit due to the different sugars and I'm wanting to lose fat, gain muscle, become lean. I am 5'1, and I weigh 136. I miss my fruit! I eat a ton of veggies, which I'm getting sick of, a lot of egg whites, oatmeal, shrimp, chicken, etc. I workout 5 days a week, and I've been trying since June 18. I trained with him two weeks ago. Any thoughts? As in does this sound familiar to anyone? We will weigh in one month from last week and do the calipers for fat again, so I'm not getting on the scale since I know muscle weighs more and it will just discourage me.

Sure, fruit is filled with sugar and taking up the calories that are available to you, and you need more of the protein and fat compared to if you did eat fruit.
And if you are eating to lose weight, don't imagine you'll be gaining much muscle at all eating in a deficit, maybe 1-2 lbs in a couple months once you've maxed out what you have. And that's only if you have enough fat to lose.
Otherwise, making it stronger and retaining it is great reasons to do lifting while you diet.

Check out weight watchers. They finally said most fruits and veggies zero points because they don't want to discourage eating them - giving you fiber and keeping you away from other foods that are worse for you. I love my fruit too. However, I am not losing weight.
