Frustrated!!!

Hey guys,

I am so frustrated right now.  I have always been an active person but just recently began exercising more and eating healthy.  Since November I haven't really done much and haven't really watched my diet.  In that time I actually lost 7lbs!! I started getting back into my exercising (cardio, some strength and twice a week with a trainer) and in the last few weeks I have gained 5lbs.  I don't get it.  I have been eating great and exercising so why is the scale going up?  I am not overweight but I would like to lose 10lbs.

Hey keep at it!.  There are often plateau's and some weight gain as you build muscle and sometimes will retain more water.  Weight loss is not consistent, you may not loose 1lb a week, maybe nothing for 2 weeks, and then 2lbs.  My scales will calculate strength and In the last few weeks I have seen this % increase whilst fat % decreases but I have not lost weight.

How much cardio are you doing?, I've found it really needs 20 mins at a moderate pace just to use up energy in the muscles before my body swtiches to energy from the fat store.

Thank you!  I have noticed that my body fat % has decreased some. It has gone from 26.3 to 25.  I'm not even sure if that means much! I do quite a bit of cardio.  At least 45 minutes per day at a moderate level. Maybe I should be looking more into my diet...

Congratulations on the weight loss to date!

I have to do acheiveable mini goals and rewards.  For example, I have the fitbit one, I may say that if I hit my goal in 3 months i'll buy the fitbit force.  As for exercise I have to mix it up.  I can't do just the gym, so I will swim or just get some fresh air and go for a walk.  Exercise should be pleasurable and not a regimented thing otherwise you will go mad.

losingitslowly, you may want to increase your calories.  Being tired is an indication you aren't eating enough to support your new muscle mass.  Although, it seems counter intuitive to start eating more, it actually means you are just getting closer to your goal.

Keep up the good work. Why don't you try something new? Look online for running/walking groups in your area and make new friends.

Weight can vary several pounds daily due to water and waste retention.  Do not sweat .4# - look at trends over a 3-4 week period.

This has happened to me too, but it actually happened since I was restricting too much from my diet.

Don't rule out any food groups (except for medical reasons) and prepare your meals for the week. Avoid measuring with cups or pre-packaged portions, since measuring cups and spoons can be altered by stuffing them or leaving them too loose.

Weigh in everything! This is super important. Get a kitchen scale.

Also, don't put too much pressure on yourself, go for a walk or dance a bit. It will be fun and you'll burn calories Smiley Very Happy
