Getting ready for my best friend wedding

My best friend is getting married on May 10, 2015. I need to lose over 100 pounds, but for the wedding I want to lose at least 40 pounds to feel good about looking pretty, in the brides maids dress. Any words or advice anyone wants to share to help me on my weight lost adventure? Other girls are losing weight, but to me they are doing it the wrong way, by skipping meals and eating to me, not enough calories. I know every body is different, that is why I ask for advice on a good starting point, to reach my goal.

skipping meals is always bad....so my advice is always eat breakfast , try for protein at every meal. eat your fiber 20-25g a day is awesome, its easier then you think.. drink water and green tea, shop the perimeter of the store. The bad stuff is on the inside isles. eat as close to nature as you can. Fruits and veggies fill you up but eat them with something. If you pick up something and it has a gazillion things in it..put it down! Start slow, you have a year. For a week decide I will eat a healthy breakfast everyday and walk x amount of mins. every week add something small not large, like 10 more mins, or add a day of zumba, then keep adding more later.  If you decide to run 5 miles a day, and eat 1200 cals and lift 3x a week and cut out all junk food...you will not like it. Start slow! have a cheat meal once a week.  reward your self for your progress with a new book, or new shoes, not food....and lose weight for you not for a wedding or a dress. The ablity to change and lose 100 pounds will come from the inside and how much you truely want it.  Remeber if you do slip up your diet or excersise..its ok! A slip up is only a failure if you see it that way. See it as a lesson learned and move on!

This is very good advice.  I'd like to add that every meal is an opportunity....which means that if you could keep a detailed diary of what you've eaten throughout the day, you can review this prior to planning or eating the subsequent meal.  Apparently, the combination of writing down (not typing) the food you have consumed with a quick check can result in up to 200 fewer calories consumed at the next meal or snack.
