Since giving up coffee and switching to high quality green tea--about 4 to 6 cups a day--I have lost about 4 pounds over a 4 week period . Of course I have also been exercising more regularly, but I believe the green tea has in fact been partially responsible for my weight loss. Now I am 5' 11" 150 pounds. I am convinced that the research is correct--green tea does help burn fat. My digestion is now much better as well--coffee really caused problems sometimes. Finally, I have more energy after switching to lower caffeine, green tea, and don't have the highs and crashes I experience with coffee. Oh, I am now sleeping better too! 🙂 There are different good brands out there, and green tea is very refreshing iced.

This is all coming from a huge coffee-drinker, so it's not opinion, just fact.
In addition to the more extreme highs and lows of coffee caffeine, it is also much more dehydrating than tea, especially green tea. A major cause of bad health in Americans is simple dehydration, which is so easy to fix. So many times we get thirsty and grab something that's not very good for us- soda, coffee, high fructose juice, etc.- instead of hydrating properly. It is amazing how many health problems you can solve be eliminating sodas, switching from coffee to grean tea, and overall drinking more water.
Suggestion: start every morning with a full glass of water. It has replaced my "morning cup of joe" necessity. I still enjoy coffee, but now I can drink it as a treat, and a glass of cold water helps me wake up refreshed.

@Stephen1227 I will agree. I have been having green tea for years and I have just drifted the last few weeks because we are a brewed tea family and it was more convenient to pore from the tea pot. Result 6 lb in a month with no real change in diet or activity. Back on the green tea and 3lb gone in 2 weeks.
Jonathan Bailor's Calorie Myth suggests we make an 8 ☕ jug in the morning and consume it by nights end. I'm not that on that many but I'm back. On our prime time time TV they are pushing green tea 80oC and 80 seconds. Twinnings.

The companies I by most of my better tea from are
Special Teas inc located in Canada, and is very high quality tea
My family thinks I'm crazy that I have bought tea at $180 a pound, only bought $24 dollars worth.
Lets look at the facts:
And you say I'm crazy when you buy 1 cup of coffee at Starbucks for 6 dollars.
Besides I only by 2 ozs at a time for about 25 dollars and only get 30 to 40 cups out of that 25 dollars.
Most of the better tea I buy is no more than $50 - 60 a pound and thats still 50 cents or less a cup, but my every day tea is $20 a pound bought at a local oriental supermarket. This will last me 4 - 5 months.

I have found that a combination of green tea and caffeine helps me to shed lbs. But only after I know I've metabolised everything in my system.

I just read that drinking more than 1-2 cups of green daily can be bad for you... be careful not to over-do it!!
