You guys are doing great! And yes, .2 is great. To me, any move in that direction is cause for a pat on the back. It is so easy to fall back on old habits and move the other way, that even just staying the course is terrific. It's wonderful that so many people are focusing on eating healthy and being active - for life.

@jkjkmc Sounds like you are doing great. Is the 100 days a thing you made up or a regular program? 17 days is amazing! Good for you!

I played in a 2 back to back slow pitch softball games last night (I played fastpitch for 10 years for high school & travel) so I thought, heck, I'm in great shape and have been working out at the gym 3-4 days a week, no problem. Well I did really good, hit every time, got an in the park homerun and did great at getting the throws caught at 1st base. I woke up this morning and holy mackerel I'm SORE!!! I apparently worked a whole section of leg muscles I had no idea I had! lol
But let me say, this is the best feeling in the world to be able to play the sport I've loved since I was 8 years old. And the fact that I could play for 2 games back to back and give it my all and do good was a huge accomplishment for me. 45 pounds heavier there is no way I would have been able to do that!!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week 🙂

@awood08 Wow! Made me smile BIG TIME to read this. What a gift it is to have a healthy body (and mind and spirit, too, of course). But for those of us struggling in the first area, it's a real boost to read about something like your triumph on the softball field. Thanks! And good luck to you and all of us with our continuing goals.

@awood08 I am so excited for you! You must be in fantastic shape! And quite the athlete. I remember the feeling of sore muscles from being very active and pushing my limits - I loved it - it felt well earned.
I was just thinking how sad it is that we are bombarded with all these messages about looking a particular way, being very thin, etc. How wonderful to be strong and agile and fast. My biggest goals, as part of losing weight, are about being in better shape. You are adding such vibrance to your life - it doesn't get better than that. I hope you are celebrating in some wonderful healthy way.
And what are you trying for those poor new muscles? Things that worked for me a little when I used to be more active: ice if a muscles is very sore; warmth if that feels better (a physical therapist told me it has to do with amounts of inflammation (cold) and getting the blood flow there (warm) so whichever feels better works; aspirin; bath with epsom salts - magnesium soothes muscles. I also found it helpful to walk the next day - gets blood flowing in the legs. And then you can get out there and work those strong muscles again!

Thank you so much @JacquelineP!
@Bobbinyc since I played Tuesday night and I need to keep up with my gym schedule I took it easy on the treadmill yesterday, just walked for 2 miles and did mostly arms & ab work so I didn't use my legs. I sat in the sauna at the gym for 15 minutes then went home and took a nice warm bath and used my Deep Blue cream I purchase through DoTerra. It's like Biofreeze but about 1000 times better and all natural. I feel MUCH better this morning!
I actually had to move my 5k up from Dec 12th to Thanksgiving morning since we had a conflict with our company fundraiser so I have got to get my running in while I can so i'm prepared! It's only 3 weeks away!!!

I am down to 171.5, making my Thanksgiving goal of 167 seem reasonable.
I am noticing that my weight seems to be most affected by what I eat, rather than by how much I exercise (although exercise makes me feel better and gives me more energy). Is this true for everyone? I always thought exercise mattered more.
Thanks for all the posts - everyone else's shared successes and struggles makes this easier!

Update Thursday:
I was flat for a few days... then dropped a bunch overnight. I got on the scale three times this morning, thinking it was a mistake. Maybe a little dehydrated... I'll probably bounce up some tomorrow, but won't give it all back.

@mesquite77 Thanks.
Yes, I am afraid I won't be able to maintain this rate. I'm comfortable in my eating and exercise plans, but the body won't let me loose this fast forever. Soon the chart will start to flatten. But, in the meantime... YEA!
I'm really looking forward to when I've lost 35 lbs. My daugher weighs 35 pounds, so when I carry her upstairs it will remind me how much I've lost and how that extra weight really felt.

@awood08 As usual, you know what you are doing, you are very resourceful, and taking great care of yourself. I never heard of Deep Blue but will definitely try it. Biofreeze is given out a lot so docs have it but it did nothing for me. You are so impressive - nothing holds you back.
You are going to kill that 5k.
Does the a in awood stand for athlete?

@LMaguire They say that food is 70% to 80% of weight loss. For me, walking makes a big difference too, but probably because my metabolism is so bad. I think walking and eating well and other exercise is raising it. Having bigger muscles does help burn off the weight somewhat. Most important, exercise helps us keep more lean muscle and lose more fat. Or that's what I've been told.
