I have recently undergone gastric bypass surgery. I am four months out. I was wondering if anyone else on here has had any type of weight loss surgery.

I am on the beginning of the Journey, on my way to get a gastric band (fingers crossed). I am now being seen by the dietician, did any of you have to see a dietician before the op?

I haven't taken the Nutrition course, but I can vouch for Coursera. I've used it to study everything from new teaching methodologies to sound production and business management.

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and to Fitbit. I'm excited that this will keep track of my daily activity.
I was sleeved on 2/26/14 and I'm down 25.5 lbs from surgery date and 34 lbs down from my hightest weight. I'm stuck in a stall right now so I'm pretty frustrated. Could you any tips for almost being 4 weeks out from surgery. Hope everyone is well.

25.5 pounds 4 weeks out is impressive! Don't get frustrated, you are doing great! If its only been a few days, just think of it as your body taking a little breather. If you are worried, call your doctor, see if you should be concerned and then consult a nutritionist -- we really can't give you real specific advice on the forums, we don't really know the whole story, but we can encourage you, and support your efforts. You could try taking a picture of your food plate and portions to share with the nutritionist, make sure to drink your water, include a little mineral water if you'd like, like Evian or one of the others. Hug yourself. Youre doing great! It won't all fall off at once, but just keep at it, slow and steady.

Oh goodness, um, yes, I have had weightloss surgery, lol. I had the band in 2006, which was a complete nightmare, slipping, erosion, unable to eat anything. Then I revised to the sleeve in 2009. And now, well, the acid has become unbearable and I am going through the process to hopefully get approved for bypass. I should have gone with it to begin with, based upon my eating habits anyways. I had lost 113 pounds with my sleeve, but have gained 50 back. I had it done in Mexico, and my new surgeon feels it may not have been done properly. We will see. Do any of you hang out on BariatricPal.com? I am the administrator there.

I had a lap-band placed in 2008. I lost 150 pounds and unfortinatly have gain 80 of it back due to a minor slip I had and never had it fixed so I tuned to liquid calories ie; lattes, ice cream, shakes etc. My band has now turned into a bad slip and the surgeon placed me on a light liquid diet until I can see a new surgeon on Apil 9th for a revision to a sleeve. I know alot of people love the band. I can say at one time I did to until I learned that alot of people if going to have difficulty with head hunger and learn to eat around it will end up eather gaining the wait back or result in a slip or erosion. Good luck to you. 🙂

I considered weight loss surgery, but I was just chicken! So I tried a cellular cleansing system and lost 111 pounds in less than a year. I have kept it off for a year and I feel great. I actuallly became very active in the company, and it changed my life. I even sale the products now. I think everyone must find what works for them. Putting our health first is a WIN WIN no matter how we choose to do it!
