I have recently undergone gastric bypass surgery. I am four months out. I was wondering if anyone else on here has had any type of weight loss surgery.

I got my surgery date!!! I am having the sleeve done on November 3rd! Yesterday I started the 13 day liver shrinking diet. I am trying to at least get 30 active minutes in a day but have recently amped it up to 45 min to an hour but for 5 days a week. I hope that's good enough for now. I guess it is because its a lot better then I've done in a long while. Little nervous about the surgery but I am so looking forward to getting back to my old self. I want to start a private FB page for anyone that has had weight loss surgery and is using the Fitbit. If you are interested, please send me a private message and I will get it started.
Thanks, Lynne

Hello friends!
I had RNY surgery 4 years ago this coming January. I lost 150# in the first 10 months, maintained until last summer and the pounds started to creep up. I'm 60# up from where I want to be. A friend showed me their fitbit and I was sold on it when I helped her set it up. And here I am.
Since my surgery, I've become hypersensitive to carbs. Carbs cause me to both jump in weight and cause my blood suger to skyrocket which, in turn, causes the extreme drop in blood sugar which is so very NOT pleasant.
So, I'm doing my best to limit carbs as much as possible but, wow, it's not easy. Just a sandwich on low carb bread can cause a problem with my sugar. And of course, the splendid cravings for carbs. *sigh*
Here I am, one week into fitbit and I'm down 13 pounds. It's a start.
Big Motivators?......My one and only child (my baby girl) is getting married in 8 months. I would sure like to have the weight off before then and feel good with how I look for the wedding.
Wishing you all a fantastic holiday season!

Had my Lapband back in 2007. It has not gone well for me. Then in July of 2014 my body rejected it and it had to be removed. I had the RNY done Aug 27, 2014. Was 275 lbs (Down from 360) and now am at 227 LBS. I go to exercise class three times per week and walk the other two. i am up to 2 miles now. I am really committed to this and my fitbit is helping. It provides a positive message to me every day that my couch will last a lot longer now that my Butt is not planted on it! I found a product that is 11 ounces and has 30 g's of protein. It is called Premier Protein. Walgreens hads it or you can find it online or at WalMArt to. I just started wearing 1X shirts today. Down from the 5X of a few years gone by. Stay with it and never give up. Persistence will get you there. Fall off the wagon and get back on but do not wait. I am really enjoying life these days. I finally fit into the booths at places we go.

It is most important to keep the liquids at the levels our Doctors told us to maintain. If we do not then the skin shows the signs. Ask you Doctor if perhaps this is what your skin is doing and the Doctor will advise you what to do about it.

Hi - I am new to fitbit (just got it today) and I am in the process of getting a gastric sleeve. Lots of requirements to fulfill before I get my surgery date. I would love to connect with you or others that have had, or are planning to have, weight loss surgery as part of their plan to get healthy. Since I am new, I am not sure how to "friend" people. Would love to be able to get a group of people who can motivate each other, have fun, and who understand the surgery journey as well. Good luck all!

Hey girl, it's me again. can you e-mail with info on the carbs. I'm not too good at keeping the word count down but I have info(important) to share with you. I have taken 2 nutrition classes and pretty well understand complex carbs. My situation was so severe I was 92 lbs in less than 2 months. They were sending me home to basically to die of malnutrition. Enter my husband and and Dr.John Bantle who did a study and research on these events. He contacted my husband via phone -e-mail and even talked treatment plan with Drs. who were set to release me to die at home. I think maybe we can help each other a great bit. I had to have mine reversed and have gained close to 90 lbs. Some things due to heart issues, surgeries and months 3+ in hospital at 1 time . 6 surgeries on l leg , skin graft on leg, open heart surgeries to repair both heart valves. So I guess I am lucky I had the RGYN reversed, I would,nt have survived all the surgeries I had . But I do not like being one who seems to do nothing but belly ache. I try to get @ least 10000 p day in . set to go back to cardio rehab after I get another clearance .I was going 3 times p wk and it helped me with my fitbit steps . Please get in touch with me . I am on FB . YOU can look at my profile or friend me there. If you want to call me ,I will give hyou my Phone#. How ever you want to work this. Btw , I live in Manassas, Va .
Thanks for listening. Just let me know what you want to do.

I had a gastric bypass 14 years ago...did lose some weight, but then started having complications...don't get scared - just keep going to dr. for follow ups and get in a discussion group/sharing group who are also post op with you. Be careful with alcohol, you will not be able to drink like you used too, take a multi vitamin, get used to eating slowly and chew, chew, chew. I had my operation years ago, did not have a support system and just made poor choices. BUT, it sounds like you are doing things right..think of the bypass as a tool - like your fitbit, get into the numbers of everthing - no emotion. Caleries in, energy out, just continue doing the math - and moving. You will be successful!!!

I'm so excited to be among so many awesome gastric bypass patients! You all are amazing and I just want to congratulate you for your individual successes. For some the weight loss is quick and for others it is slower. My weight loss was a progress over 2 years. I'm 5'1 and weighed 321 lbs. I got down to 119 lbs. My surgery was in Oct, 2013. I had put some weight back on to 140 and have lost 2 lbs in the last week. It isn't perfect but it saved my life.
I have a lot of ideas I would love to share with you regarding food, proportions, plate design & size, and other things. I hope I could get your help and support to stay motivated, get more encouragement, and different ideas for making my Fitbit work the best way possible.
I am pumped up to learn from you all and make some new friends. Again, congratulation on very hard work and making lifestyle changes. A lot of people do not understand that it isn't like an alcoholic where you can give up the alcohol where food addicts have to learn to moderate food intake and make healthy choices.
It can be fun with the right people and I can see a bunch posting here!
