Have you lost weight since you got your Fitbit?

I am the exact same weight as I was when I got my Flex 3 1/2 months ago!

How about you?

I'm hoping with Spring here and Summer around the corner, that my walking will increase.

Yes you must celebrate!! You’ve accomplish great things!
Let’s keep moving 😊 The scale will move. I have been stuck too, focused on the scale
I love the fitbit challengers, encouraging me to see what I can do.
What else do you do to move? I have a desk job fulltime, then I used to come home and sit at night
Best of luck to you!

Ronda, at first, I too, wasn't losing weight by just doing 10,000+ steps each day. Then, a friend suggested I needed to track my food. I use the Fitbit Alta but I think the Flex probably lets you log your food. Each morning, Fitbit tells me how many calories I can eat. The daily number is based on your weight goal. For me, Fitbit determined I needed to cut out 500 calories a day. When I log in each morning, Fitbit gives me a very small number of calories for the day (around 1300). By doing my steps, Fitbit gives me more calories. That motivates me to keep moving. If I go over my goal calories, Fitbit tells me to do more steps to burn more calories. Once I started tracking my meals, I started losing weight. Sure, it is a bit of a hassle to monitor everything you eat. But once you start seeing results, it's worth the extra work. It also helps to view your eating patterns when you write it down. Since January 2016, I've lost 28 pounds. My goal was 30 pounds so I'm almost there. Unfortunately, the last 5 pounds seems to be the most difficult to lose. My body has gotten used to my 10,000+ steps and 500 less calories. I think I will have to increase my exercise to lose those last few pounds.

Yes, it’s possible to use the Food Plan with any Fitbit tracker, since they all estimate your energy expenditure (calories burned).

Kudos for figuring out how to use your tracker and the food logging feature to your advantage, and all the best with the "last five"! Yes, they’re the hardest! You may want to take a full diet break before attacking them.

I understand this well. I got stuck. I walk outside. Here in South Central Texas it is best to do this as early as possible. I began trying to walk more in the same amount of time. Over time, my step count went up. Now I do 18K in same time I was doing 10! My scale is now going down (very slowly). You may find this easier and better then trying to increase the time.

Thank you. 😊I am retired after back injury. Started walking when realized; how short of breath I got going 10 feet to bathroom. Scary since no lung problems and never smoked in my life. 😨 It took 6 months to build up to the less then 2K round trip to main street. I stopped keeping my biggest vice of Diet Dr Pepper in the house. Walk 2 mile round trip to convenience store for it. Daughter got us a Fitbit in 2015. That motivated me for aggressive and planned walking. Sisters and family in other states have them. We compete. Send jeering texts etc. End result for us is decreasing weight and better shape. I was instructed to increase number of steps in same amount of time. That's getting my weight back on a slow but steady decline. Last week daughter and I did the NYC 26 mile/57K in one day. We took our time. The walk was planned around bus routes, convenience stores, malls and fast food places. Planning for 100K in a day badge. Have a niece who did it. Now a sister, daughter and I are trying to get in shape for it. We're in a race to see who gets it first. Hard as we walk and don't 🏃. I enjoy the Fitbit challenges. My daughter and most competitive sister have desk jobs. They get to work early and walk around the job campus. Sis with nice weather has hubby drop her off and walks 11K home too. I'm in South Texas. Weather not a problem (unless you hate heat). Sis in Nebraska has damaged 2 treadmills. One will only work once in 24 hours for 90 minutes. The other has a burning smell. That is since 2015 when we began Fitbit challenges. My treadmill is envious. I pat it as I walk past on way out. Enjoy your walking. I enjoy mine.

I have lost weight but do some extremes. But all in all you HAVE to track your food, hands down. I weigh mine, and also doing that makes me not snack as much. I have guys in my class (military course) that wonder why only running that they are not loosing weight when in the next sentence they told me that they are getting a free pizza.

CALORIES IN CALORIES OUT!!!

Being a retired health care provider, I saw the other side of your coin. People who tried to lose weight by diet alone. I am not talking about the diet extremists. Just those who wanted to lose weight for many reasons. I watched those who with near zero physical activity opt for gastric bypass and other procedures. Then had to deal with the extreme depression for the ultimate failure. I have watched calories in for over 39 years. My weight was stable. Then I an injury took my activity to near zero. My sex, heredity and age has my body as energy efficient as possible. I ballooned up and more than doubled my weight in less than 18 months. I was/have been on a diabetic diet of 1800 calories a day. It took me a while to get moving. It's difficult enough to find a balance between diet and exercise. This is even more complicated when age, sex and heredity is taken into account. I remember when I decided to get moving. That was the best decision I made.

Great job!  Yes i agree the Fitbit will not help you lose weight until you log every calorie you consume.  I had the most success when Lent started and i gave up beer, Nips and Ice Cream.  I also gave up cafeine and drink at least 3 liters of water per day.  I have lost ten pounds in the last 3 months and feel great!  I used the recommendations for reduced calories to reach my goal and it seems to be working.  I love to eat small amounts frequently so i make sure i have healthy foods in my car since i drive a lot of miles.  I try to eat a lot of hard boiled eggs because for me the protein curbs my sugar cravings.  I also like deli sandwiches because they seem healthier and i only buy 1/2 a sandwich with the eggs, maybe some apples and also oranges.  Mornings i like to drink whey protein.  Once again seems to curb my cravings for a sugar donut or candy bar.  Hope this helps 🙂

i guess I need to set some new goals, and work towards meeting those.  I think I have only lost maybe 5 pounds since getting my charge hr in March 2017.  Most days I'm not even getting 5000 steps.  Looking for ideas on better goals to set.  I have my steps set right now at 8000 daily.

Hi

Being harsh, but if your looking for everyone else to set your goals then you are never going to achieve your weight loss or fitness objectives. You CAN do it but you have to push yourself. Begin with your current goals and increase them steadily each couple of days. Have a weepy and daily fitness plan and stick to it. Remember that without healthy eating the road to success is much slower if not impossible.

Achieving steadily increasing goals will make you feel good rather than setting unrealistic, unachievable goals that will only demotivated you.

I have lost 5stone since January this year and if I can do it you can!!

You are an inspiration to me.  I need to lose 30 lbs and you are proof that matching food intake with exercise will result in healthy weight loss.  Keep up the tough work!

I've had my fitbit for 41 days and lost 10 lbs. I'm eating at the 1000 calorie deficit which for me works out to be more like a 600 calorie deficit. I walk over 10,000 steps everyday.

No, not looking for anyone to set goals for me, just responding to other post really indicating that setting goals will help you have better success.  The lightbulb I guess came on for me reading other posts about goals were set and the push to increase your personal self to meet and exceed the goals.  However; thanks for your reply

If you find it hard to meet your goals, you might do better when you realise what you are doing it for. You started on this journey for a reason, something that got you passionate about starting it. Either that is wanting to look a certain way, to be more healthy or to be able to be more active with kids in your family, you know that reason for yourself. Write it down, tell your closest relatives and friends and remind yourself of it often. Motivation will come and go like an emotion, but that reason will always be there.

I also find it easier to meet my goals when I am not doing it alone. So I joined a few online communities and made friends there. You can check this post to find friends and do challenges with them.
