Have you lost weight since you got your Fitbit?

I am the exact same weight as I was when I got my Flex 3 1/2 months ago!

How about you?

I'm hoping with Spring here and Summer around the corner, that my walking will increase.

Just remember. You need to burn more than you eat. Am sure you will
accomplish your goal. Stay the course!

Hi everyone,  I see a lot of great ideas and suggestions here.

A combination between exercise and calorie reduction would be the best way to goo, I lost 30 pounds after I learned more about how to manage my calorie consumption with my food plan, and started to be more conscious about the physical activity I was doing everyday.

Being aware of all these factors definitely helped me to loose weight a lot faster than before.

I lost about 10 lb since I got my Fitbit Versa 2 months ago. Now maintaining at my goal weight of 185, working to gradually increase muscle strength and resistance to injury. Being accountable for logging my food helps me make responsible choices about what and how much to eat. On a day trip to the beach, we stopped at a rest stop with an Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips. The deep fried Seafood Combo had a display on the menu board that said it's 3,000 calories! So, I ate half and discarded the other half. I managed to still run a slight calorie deficit that day. That kind of awareness is what Fitbit gives me.

Plus the prompting to walk around the office building every hour, adding movement to an otherwise sedentary job. Plus the daily hydration goals (which also help steer me away from soda as a daily habit).

Great suggestions @JungleGymJam,  thank you for sharing this information.

I have a sedentary job as well and try to get a few extra steps whenever I can.

I have had my fitbit Charge HR for sometime, years really. I've worn it on and off but started training with my daughter at the end of May. My daughter is going off to college and will be playing softball there. She has never really been a runner and has struggled with her weight since she was in third grade. She has struggled but has always played sports, often multiple sports. I was a runner a million years ago and I have tried unsuccessfully to start a running habit since I was 19 having run all through high school. Complicating things for me, I starting having babies at 19 and was on and off birth control.

Fast forward to May of this year, I found myself heavier than I've ever been. So so so out of shape. I would get winded just walking up a flight of stairs. I'm 5'4" and I was getting way closer to 230 lbs than I ever wanted to see. So the beginning of May I started doing mostly low carb, but nothing too drastic just being more mindful. The end of may I had dropped some weight but was still not exercising when my daughter got her summer workout regimen. I looked through it and said to my daughter, "Well it looks like you're going to be a runner by the end of the summer, like it or not!" and started training with her the last week in May and recharged my fitbit and started wearing it. Now by with her, I mean walking on the track while she's doing endurance workouts and sprint work outs. I by no mean can do what she's doing, yet. When she's done with her workout, we go for a run. It started with 10 minutes running with 20 minutes on either side, to now we are currently running 45 minutes most days. And again, I say we but really she runs way faster than I do and leaves me in the dust, but I'm running and I started 6/5/19 logging my food on my fitbit app.

I had a doctor's appointment 6/5/19 where I weighed 220 lbs. So as concerned as my doctor was, at least I was moving away from as close to 230 lbs as I was seeing. My labs came back with high cholesterol but I am determined to NOT be started on a statin. I had a follow up appointment today 7/5/19 and weighed 204.5 lbs. I have a long way to go to reach my 140 lb goal. Weight loss really is just a math problem. And logging my food (as much as I hated it in the beginning) really does help me determine if eating something is worth it or at least it makes me regulate the portion size.

Way to go @Agunga ! Have you noticed that Fitbit makes it easier to log food the more you do it? It remembers the combinations of foods you have together, so if you log plain yogurt, it'll suggest honey & blueberries of you tend to have those items together.

I said to my wife that if I had to look up the calories in a book and write everything down that way, I wouldn't log. But since Fitbit has such a well developed food database, it makes logging a whole lot easier.

And it informs me how much room I have for calories on workout days and rest days, which is helpful in controlling and maintaining my weight, available energy and muscle building resources.

Hooray for you! I've lost 11 lbs, and boy, it's been a struggle. Logging
your food sounds like a good idea.

Highly recommend logging your food consumption.  There's a free app you can get called MyFitness pal that is easy to use.  I use the free version. Probably many others that do the same, helps me stay honest, and stay on track.  Down 12 lbs in last 3 months with 4 lbs to go to get to my desired weight.  Best of luck

Another vote for logging food intake - It is important that you know how many calories you consume.   Just be careful with the number of calories burned reported by your FitBit, as for me the calorie burn is high by about 40%.  Once you know the amount you can eat, logging really helps.

OTOH, you reported that you needed a deficit of 3200 calories in order to lose one pound at the beginning of your weight loss journey (which would suggest Fitbit actually underestimated your energy expenditure back then, since it’s generally considered a cumulative deficit of 3500 calories will result in a loss of 1 lb), while you currently need 4900 calories in order to achieve the same loss (1 lb). You have lost more than 100 lbs during your journey, which is (IMO) the primary reason for Fitbit now overestimating your expenditure by 40%. Fitbit just isn’t currently capable / smart enough to factor in the metabolic adaptation that takes place when you lose a very large amount of weight, as in your case. For all it "knows", you have the metabolism of an average man your age, your height and your current (much lower) weight, hence the discrepancy.

I am sure that is correct as for the past month or so, as I maintain the fitbit appears to be more accurate (under 20% difference)  In another month it will be right on 😆

This is good news! And proof that metabolic adaptation is reversible (some people think their metabolism has been "permanently destroyed").
