Helping to lose the weight to make a high adventure possible,

I started with the HR Charge on 2-21-16 in an effort to lose some weight (55 pounds) and become fit enough to travel with my Boy Scout son on a high adventure experience at Philmont Scout Camp in August of 2017. In the first seven weeks, I have been able to lose 21.9 pounds and improved my dietary habits. I can't say enough about how something that brings awareness to your activities can serve as a motivator to help one get into shape. I am now on my way to a healthier lifestyle and encouraged daily to get in my steps. I have even gone so far as to set up a group for Boy Scout leaders in Northern Indiana to share experiences and best practices. I am a firm believer, in just this short time, that the weight loss I have always wanted to accomplish is on the right path!

Congratulations to you!  Also remember, if you ever reach a plateau where you feel you cant lose weight, watch your body fat percentage!  I look like I've lost an incredible amount of weight in 3 weeks, but I've only lost body fat.  Fitbit has helped me SOOO much on my journey!

That is great to hear, @JEH611DAD!  Keep up the good work!  Philmont is a long, long time ago for me, but it is a once in a lifetime experience you won't want to miss.

My son and I are looking forward to this experience. We are going to be in a crew of 10 from our troop (4 fathers with their 6 sons). I want it to be the experience he always remembers.

just stumbled across this thread - I am preparing for a June 2017 Trek with my son and a crew of 4 adults and 8 boys.  I am trying to go from desk jockey to pack mule in the 100 days remaining, so I hope your training is going well.

You get funny looks walking around Houston hike and bike trails with a 50 pound pack, but who cares!
