Hip Hop Abs, Shakeology, Beachbody prgrams in general

I am looking to lose about 100 lbs.  I just got Beachbody's Hip Hop Abs and did my first workout today (liking Shaun T so far! lol)  Has anyone else done this program? What are your thoughts? Thoughts about Beachbody products in general? I am curious about Shakeology, but all I can seem to find in terms of reviews, I'm not sure how reliable they are.  I have type 2 diabetes, but am not insulin dependent (yet), and I am hoping to slim down and tone up and reverse it.

I am a nurse, so I am on my feet and walking a lot every day, but I need to push myself harder.  The HHA workout was fun, but I am pretty uncoordinated at this point.  Thoughts, tips, suggestions? Thanks in advance.  🙂

I do some Beachbody. Have done Hip Hop Abs.

As far as shakeology. There are other products out there that are better. Just buy a Protein shake at a Local store for less money.

I buy this at amazon. I think its even less calories

But you do need some strength training in there a few days a week to help tone you. Weights

i use It Works products and love them so much.  I think you'd benefit from the Greens to help with your blood sugars. Message me if you'd like more info. I've done some research on this and I can direct you where to get it if you like.

Hey there @rn_gigi ! I've tried shakes, pills and oh so many things. My tip is to not to dive into it, since a lot of cash is spent on things that end up being tiresome.

The only thing that has helped me lose the 41 pounds (100+ more to go)is walking and counting calories. My menu is super diverse and I don't restrict anything as long as it's within my caloric budget.

What I've done is:

  • Dance to Zumba
  • Weigh my food and log it with a scale
  • Walk around the block on my breaks and lunches
  • Use Pact to push it a bit further and force myself to be consistent
  • I'll be using a Kikki-k Health Goals journal to see my results and progress throughout the year

Let's do this together! Happy holidays Smiley Very Happy

Hip Hop Abs (and Insanity, and all their other workouts) is just one type of (very intense) aerobic exercise, and Shakeology is just one type of (proprietary and expensive) protein shake. Regardless of the outrageous claims they make, neither will suffice to make you lose weight, whether used alone or together.

I would rather recommend you watch the following five short videos:

Like Beachbody, they're also trying to sell you on their product. Unlike Beachbody, they provide sensible advice on what it takes to lose weight (or rather, fat), and you don't have to buy their product.

They have the exact same videos for men, btw: just replace "women" with "men" in the URL for each video.

I'm not affiliated with them and I haven't purchase a single product for them. I've just found what they say to be sound advice.

I'm a RN as well and appreciate the long shifts and quick lunches/meals! I do use Beach body shakeo and do PIYO, which is easier on my joints/knees. Here's what's worked for me with the crazy sch we work (assuming you work 12 hr shifts)

1. Plan your meals to include snacks. Eating at work is usually on the fly and it's easy to hit the cafeteria or vending machines. Take healthy foods for 2 meals incase your shift runs late. Keep lots of healthy snacks everywhere!!
2. Get your sleep.. I actually lose weight quicker when I'm getting 8 hrs each night or at least as often as possible.
3. Drink water throughout your shift.
4. Consider wt lifting to strengthen your legs/back/ core. Out pts are not getting smaller.

Good luck!

I use Beachbody workouts-21 Day Fix, and starting 21 Day Fix Extreme soon. I also work at a gym, and so I have access to gym membership. The at home workouts save me from not working out sometimes for sure (especially on days where I'm super busy or have no reason to leave the house, and it's cold out 😀😀). These types of workouts are awesome, and honestly are sometimes a better workout than I've had in the gym. The programs also offer more than just a workout on DVD.

As for Shakeology, can you find something cheaper in the store-absolutely. But, I've tried many protein powders. Most taste like chemicals (because that's exactly what they are). I was SUPER skeptical when I first tried it...super skeptical. But, what it had done for me...I continue to use it because it has crushed my sweet cravings, it's helped my heartburn/acid reflux. It's done more for me than I EVER imagined it could.

All that said, everyone is different. Some people will disagree. Some will bash it without trying it. Feel free to message me if you have questions. I'll give you the pros and the cons.
