Hope to lose weight with caloric watch and walking?

So I can't exercise too much because I have an umbilical hernia from a twin pregnancy and the status is it's in a precarious state.  So I can walk.  But I work many many hours a week and have aforementioned twin one year olds and a 3 year old with no help frm hubby (he is a resident in neurosurg.)  So suffice it to say I have very (VERY) little time to do much.  I guess I am tracking now to see if I can make every little step count with tracking- and watching what I eat.  I started eating more "healthy" in that I cut out processed foods, added sugary foods etc about 1.5 months ago.  It hasn't made me lose a ton of weight (a few pounds) but it certainly makes me feel better!

So here I am- absolutely devestated at the body I have now (I have a large ball in the middle of my stomach where all my muscled bound together so I look 5-6 months pregnant) but wanting to stay motivated to DO something!

Anyone else out there who just needs someone to motivate and stay in this journey together?

feel free to add me!

Hi, adr2014! I could absolutely use someone to motivate AND to motivate me in return. I just had a demoralizing shopping excursion that made it impossible to deny that I'd let myself get back to a size 14 when I'd made it to a very comfortable size 10 last year. I was doing the INSANITY workout (which kicks butt, yet will set your feet and shins on FIRE!) and was losing a great deal of fat, gaining loads of muscle and both looking and feeling like a million bucks. The pain was too much to bear and I took some time off. What I learned was that the only thing harder than starting INSANITY is starting it AGAIN! Now I go to the gym every Monday through Friday (although I took weeks off by accident when I was on travel) and am doing pretty well, but the results are FAR slower which is discouraging. The saving grace is that I can get quite a few steps in my Zumba class and I've got a lot more definition in my arms now from the weights. But my belly looks like I'm still pregnant with my now-7 year old son and it's just getting to be a pain. Having someone to cheer for along their journey and having a cheerleader in return would do wonders!

Hi there 🙂
I know what you mean. I can't use the excuse that I've just had a baby anymore as my bubs is one also!
Have you thought of using an app to help track your calories like myfitnesspal? It syncs with fitbit and scans bar ides which makes it easy-er...
I am limited to walking myself after having bubs with the weight gain etc my knees are rebelling. So physio has told me nothing but walking at the moment. I also work and have 2 step children (twins). The main time I find I get a good walk in is my lunch breaks. It was hard to start but then I also found someone in the office to come with which helped.! From doing that I realised it was the 15 minutes that matter. It's better than nothing and those active minutes are so hard to get lol. So I go for a quick 10 or 15 minute when I can at home and (try) and get 20-25 min when I'm at work.
Good luck 🙂

Thanks for the reply!  So i thought i would be able to use this app for food but the log sucks and frankly...people arent as active on the community 😞  So i linked all the Fitbit data to the loseit app and have been doing good!  i need to find those 10 min you mention below... that will help my mood too!

thanks again,

Amanda

You can do it!  My daughter bought me the fitbit for xmas but I didn't start really using it until May 5th.  I have lost 11 lbs since then by doing 15,000 steps a day and logging foods on my fitness pal which syncs with fitbit. I eat whatever I want but make sure I don't go over my calorie allowance.  I have lost this same amount of weight before but the maintaining is harder for me.  I am hoping these apps make the difference.  I am small boned so 11lbs is a lot.  Like the above poster, it sneaks up on me especially since I wear scrubs every day. Not this time.  I will be wearing my fitbit every day and will never give up logging my food.  Walking with a friend every night is helpful.  She talks a lot so it goes by fast.  I wish you all the luck.  Maybe it would help if you bought one of those jogging strollers so you can take baby with you.  It is hard to find the time when they are young.

Yes you can! I've lost 20 lbs since May 23rd using Fitbit, eating 50% less calories than burned, cutting out salt and sugar, and joining HealthyWage. They say you have to burn 3000 calories to lose a pound of fat. I'm also being selfish and taking walking breaks during the work day. I started at 214 and have another 40 to go. Keep in touch!
