Accepted Solutions

I weigh daily with the understanding that if I had too much salt the day before or whatever that my weight will fluctuate.  For me, if I don't make it a daily focus then I start to go down the path of not logging food, and having that extra snack, etc.  As long as the general trend is in the right direction, I'm happy!  Also, I like being able to see on a daily basis how my body reacted to a strengthening workout or that meal out at a restaurant.  It helps me plan wisely as I go.

Yes, in the 'Log', there is a weight section, you can manually enter weight there.

You can also enter it from the App (at least the Android app)

But do you really want to do it daily?

NO! you don't want to weigh yourself daily. There are too many factors that can cause flucuations that cause more stress than value.

Weigh youself weekly is the usual recommendation (personally I do 2x per week, but only use one as my goal measurement). Weigh yourself at the same time each week (i.e. Monday AM after shower) this way you have a consistent timeframe.

But, if for some reason you feel you want to weigh yourself daily, then it only takes 30s to enter it manually. Heck, you can even just jot it down on a piece of paper and enter it at a later time.

I disagree with lhagemann about not logging daily. I think it should be a matter of personal preferrence.

For me:

I like seeing my daily weight. It calms me down when I look over the history and see that yes there are days that I just go up 0.5lb or 1.0lb, but it comes back off the next. If I just weighed myself once a week and logged that, and it happened to be an "up" day, I would likely freak out about it.

I think this is personal preference.  I love to chart and graph everything.  I weigh my self daily, every morning, right before I get into the shower.

I enter my weight into MFP, usually because thats where I go to enter my foods and it transfers over to fitbit.

I have followed this suggestion for a long time now: weigh every day. At the end of the week, add up the total pounds from each day that week and divide by 7 to get your average weight for the week. Let THAT be the weight that counts. It works for me because it averages out the fluctuations. It accepts them and minimizes them at the same time.

I like the idea of taking the week and averging it out...the thing I don't like about he once a week is it will fall on a day where I had a lot of salt and then I feel to frustrated and give up...the daily thing is at least keeping me in check...I'm not losing but at least I'm not gaining either. Yesterday was a very bad day for me....I had a breakfast of 250 calories before golfing 9 holes with a cart...then I had a hot dog with 2 beers....met a friend couple hours later for lunch had two more beers...just a like snack but they were fried green beans...did not eat them all at least....then went to play bingo...had salty, greasy popcorn and candy bar & M&Ms. I was so discusted with myself I got home at 10:30 pm and put in my walk away the pounds and did 4 miles trying to undo some of the damage. LOL...the scale remained the same this morning....today I have yard work all day and then golf tonight if it don''t rain. I have a lot of grilled veggies and fruit in the refrigerator so that will me my food of choice today. I think and hope to by pass the alchol tonight after golf...

On both iOS and Android, you would click the Weight feature then press the + to add new measurements read on your scale.

I weigh myself everyday to find confidence in my achievements and control tracking. I like to see that my weight and fat burn is going in the right direction. If it goes up, I need to learn what I did wrong and fix it. Like not having enough walking steps, exercises and burning calories the day before increased my fat mass by 2%. That's a learning curve.

I weigh every day that I'm home and add my weight into my profile on a daily basis.  I don't have a smart phone or a scale that "talks" to my FitBit so I manually input the data and click on the appropriate date.  It only takes a second and then I can look back on the graph and see how I'm doing for the past week.

Swim 2.4 miles, Bike 112 miles, Run 26.2 miles and brag for life. If I can do it anyone can!
