How do I buy a bike???

I have recently started spinning class, and I love it. However, with the gym being 8 miles from my house, working full time, and having a 4 year old running around pooping everywhere, it's really hard to get ready, be in the class for an hour, then get back home. The time investment is huge. I would still like to get there once a week for class, but want something for the days where I just can't get out of the house or have the 2 hours to dedicate to it.

I've started shopping, but with prices anywhere from $150 to $1500, it's a little hard to pinpoint one. I do like to do standing sprints, so I know I need a heavier flywheel, but beyond that, I'm stumped on brands and pretty much everything else.

Anyone had any successes or failures purchasing/shopping for one of these things?

I bought mine after trying out different ones in the gym. If you're feeling a bit cheeky, ask your gym if they're upgrading the equipment soon or have any surplus stock as my last bike was bought directly from my gym at huge discount when they brought in new gear.

It all depends on what you want from your bike though, so your best bet is to shop for the features you really want. Unlike a bicycle you don't need to worry about sizing, so I'd just choose something sturdy with high resistance.

If it helps, I find BodyMax to be a reliable brad for excercise bikes.

Fail would be lack of maintenance on any equipment you buy. But that's pretty much it. I wouldn't recommend a cheap stationary bike unless you don't care for resistance.

I'm more into Elliptical Machine versus the Spinning Bikes. Elliptical Machines utilitize all your body parts including your core and generates more calories burned as you move your arms, core, glutes and legs versus just your legs.
