With your Alta, you get a Fitbit account (like with any other Fitbit tracker). And with that account, you can set yourself a food plan. Losing weight is about finding the right mix of exercise and eating that will lead to a sustainable calorie deficit.
One unique feature the Alta has and other Fitbit trackers don’t is Reminder to move: take advantage of it to become more active. Likewise, get Fitbit friends and take part in challenges (as a way to motivate yourself to move more).

When the goal is to get leaner (decreasing body fat & getting more toned with exercising).. if not having a Aria, consider get one, as it can be used as a tool to see your progress. When weighing at the same time, giving the best results.
As when weighing less.. the body requires less calories to maintain the new weight.. if wanting to change body composition, quicker results can come when weighing daily, every other day.. as it updates the weight on the account which influences the calories burned in rest as well from exercise.. & being more accurate.

If noticing for example there's no progress at all (weight / body fat stays the same).. a change can be needed in food habits like setting a higher deficit, since perhaps possible logged more than eaten, and eating on maintenance instead).. this can happen when the deficit is to small..
Stay hydrated, as when the body doesn't has enough water (due not drinking enough).. it can be less efficient to digest the foods and transport the nutritients where needed.. needing to take water from other places where it's less important at the moment.. though everything inside your precious body works in conjunction, it can work less optimal if not drinking enough.
Dehydration also can lead to constipation, which can show a weigh gain on the scale.. also by drinking enough, it flushes out all the extras the body doesn't need (when eaten to much salt..)..
Extra salt also can lead to weight (water upkeep) of several pounds, being constipated can also be several pounds of extra temporary weight..
Natural foods without labels (or as minimal as processed as possible) are the best for the body, though if wanting a dessert or treat.. allow to have, to prevent binge eating.
Try listening to your body when eating, how you feel before / during / after eating. Getting a bit of appetite, during eating, feeling needing more, or satisfied with portion of choosing, or can't eat all? No need to force feed.. it's possible to log foods, while not always easy, listen what your body is telling (not having much appetite in the moment.. possible to eat a little snack.. and have more when the body naturally asks for more nourishment.
Have Fun reaching your goals

I agree with @Dominique You need to find the right mix. Log your food and you will start losing weight

The quality of the food also counts aside the calories (it determines what to eat next to), if eating natural foods overall, unlikely wanting cookies if possible to avoid or limiting it to one instead, or the need to take more of it even when not really hungry.. but naturally craving the foods without labels which nature provided us (as minimal as processed)..
A banana containing for example the same calories as a cookie but provides more nutritients to the body than the cookie (with cookies (prepackaged 'junk' foods), possible the body seeking more food, being more hungry since not having all nutritients it needs so it can say 'more food please'), it also aids the immune system, leading to faster recovery, leaving more satisfied than a cookie (or 'junk foods').. which eating from and still wanting more..
With changing food habits, over time it's possible to not crave 'junk foods' as much, since the body prefers natural foods over prepackaged 'junk foods'.. though if wanting a treat, allow to have to prevent binge eating.
