So, my biggest thing with weightloss has always been that apparently "I don't take in enough calories" for the amount of calories that I burn. Now that I have this fitbit I see that I burn so many calories in a day and then I eat like 1400 when dieting. I am 5'8 24 year old female, should I be eating more or less? I weigh 175 and need to lose 30 pounds in 4 months.
Has this actually helped anyone with their weightloss, or just confuse you more?

hello and welcome. here is the thing- no one can tell you what's not enough, too much or right. You have to figure it out for yourself. I personally have never subscribed to the eat more to lose weight thought. this goes back to the starvation mode theory. That your body will hold on to calories because it thinks you are starving it. Research shows that if this ever happens, it happens after a prolonged period of time. And by prolonged I don't mean a few months- I mean third world starving long. You may not be eating the right calories, you may actually be eating too much to create a caloric deficit. start by looking up your metabolic rate. figure out how many fewer calories from eating alone you can tolerate. This will involve you doing some meal planning, calorie look ups and food weighing. Then you need to figure out how many more calories you think you will burn daily in movement. once you have that number, try it for a week. if you are losing and not feeling bad- keep going. If you are not losing- reduce a little more. If you are gaining- reduce way more. make sure your calories are good- nutritious and satisfying. I hope this helps a bit more than where we started. Good luck!
