How much weight loss is too much in too short of a time?

I started on March 23rd at 253 pounds, but didn't understand that simple walking or hitting 10K steps wasn't the point - diet AND exercise is the equation, IMO. Today I dipped under 209. That's 44 pounds in a bit more than 4 months. I walk everyday.

So far in July, I've done 165 road miles and lost slightly less than 15 pounds in the month. Since May 23rd I've lost 28 pounds and walked 330 miles. I have averaged 1800 calories a day and really don't believe that I'm depriving myself of anything that I "want" to eat.

BTW, I'm 65 and feeling really good.

First of all congratualtions on the weight you have lost!  That i quite an achievment.

I know from personally experience that weight loss is different for different people and you need to take certain factors into account.  The best person to tell you how much weight you should lose is a doctor.

From what I understand 1-2 pounds is normal.  You can lose more (3-5)when you first start out if you are changing your lifestyle like changing from sedentary to active which it sounds like you have done.

CONGRATS on your weight loss!  It sounds like you're doing great!  I wouldn't say you're losing "too fast" if you're feeling good.  I'm losing at a similar pace as you.  I'm down 41 lbs in 3.5 months.  I'll be 40yo in a couple of months, and I feel better now than I did at 30!
