Friday is "pasta night" at our house. If I weighed in on a Friday, it would be best done early inthe day!!! 🙂

I weight in each morning when I get up. Try to keep it at the same time. Yes, there will be "ups and downs" but over time, I have found this metric is a useful component of my overall weight loss, exercise, and dietary regime. I have one of those medical scales with the weights and scale up near my chest so I can show pounds to the quarter pound.
I do this before I eat.
I"ve found one daily weigh in is all that you really need.

I guess it's just human nature, right? :). This morning my pants felt a little snug in the waist and I looked at the scale, my head hung low and forced myself on that scale. It wasn't fun. LOL.

I weigh in once a week, dont obsess about it, it can lead to stress. Then you end up with BPH, just try to control your weight taking blood pressure meds. Good Luck,
I just cut out pre processed foods and weight once a week, and beleave it or not 38 lbs gon sence JAN.

I weigh every morning as well. I feel it helps me reflect on what I ate the day before and see how it affected my weight.

I say once a month. The scale geeks me out and I'm trying to gain muscle. I'd rather notice my changes elsewhere. 🙂

Thanks for the insight. I suspect weighing everyday is best but I sometimes get discouraged. I recently went through a period when I felt thinner, clothes were looser, butt tigher, but there was no change on the scale. ARGHHH! Eventually, the scale moved. I need to remember this is how it works.

Yes, Friday night at my house is Shabbat; roasted chicken and potatoes, Challah bread, wine. I love it and cannot give it up. Really, life isn't worth living without Shabbat. Soooo, I cut back a bit, go easy on the Challah and have swapped sweet potatoes for white/red bliss ones. No dessert either. That's becasue Saturday is date night! Hubby and I grab a movie, maybe an ice cream sundae or cocktails.
Getting through Friday and Saturday nights is the thing. I am learning to allow myself these indulgences, otherwise will be resentful so I try not to go overboard. In the past when I tried losing weight, I got bent out of shape when I went out, it wasn't fun.
Also, during holiday time, Hanukah-Christmas-New Years, there are so many parties, still learning how to manage these.

I choose to weigh in Sun Wed Fri as it helps with learning my body's variations and lessens discouragement.

I agree with you Buff_Beauty! It is somewhat depressing to weigh yourself everyday and sometimes you may lose a couple of pounds and thereafter, especially on weekends, you gain more than that. It's a never ending battle with weight and as we get older, it becomes more difficult to lose weight and it is not as easy as it was when we were younger.
Not that I am saying you are up in the years, but as for me, I am 68 and my health is not in the best of shape, so it is rather difficult for me to lose weight than someone 30 to 40 years younger than me.
Just don't give up hope and continue with your weight loss regime and you will get to your ideal weight in due time.
Take care,
Leo

When to weight depends entirely on you. If you are following a program it seems reasonable to weight-in everyday to see the progress. But be warned, body fluid variations and fluid retention due to sodium can be quite significant, but don't be discouraged because this is normal. Drink plenty of water to wash the sodium away and you will be amazed by the results.
My suggestion...which seems to have some logistic...is to weight-in in the morning after all bowel movements and urinating (that way all waste fluids will be out of your body) and take a shower.
Weight-in fully naked so that you can know exactly what your real body weight is.
Best of Luck

I weigh in every Saturday morning, any more than that and I get discouraged. I've tried weighing in multiple times a week but it gets hard only seeing a half pound difference in such a short time frame. I, personally, prefer to see a bigger chunk come off- I feel more gratification this way.
It's really whatever you want to do, there is no wrong or right way. If you start feeling too anxious or discouraged doing it every day, then try once a week. And if that's too long, try twice a week! 🙂

When I started in January I swore I would only weigh in at the doctors office every three months, and for a short while it was working; the first weigh in was in April (-44lbs). I injured my hip in training last month and they threw me on the scale 2 months premature and I was all ready down 21 pounds from my last weigh in (65lbs total). I was 4lbs short of a milestone in my weight loss (I dangle carrots [rewards] for hitting a specific weight) and I became obsessed with those 4lbs.
A week later, I was up at a 5K a friend was hosting and I asked her to bring her scale so I can put my mind at ease. After the 5K I weighed and I was down not only those 4lbs but 9 additional (now down 78lbs). OCD is a helluva drug! Talking to my friend/dietitian - the radical loss in 9 days was fine since I was not fully prepared for the weigh in at the doctors (had, er...4lbs of *stuff* in me and I usually 'cleanse' a couple days before I hit the scale)
The next weigh in (officially) is on July 3rd and I'm shooting for 10-12 more pounds (12 would be nice - make it a round number lol). It's been hard to not jump on the scale after my training sessions believe me! Just need willpower and patience!

Makes sense. I don't set goals of losing 10 pounds in 30 days for example. I just want to keep my weight at 190 to 193 each day. So, I weigh myself each moring after my walk to make sure I'm in that weight spectrum. I would be upset with myself if I waited a week and found out I was at 196, so I check myself each day to control what I eat and how agressive I am wehn walking.

If you use the sacle as your friend and don't allow it to control you, it wil work in your favor. Hmmmm. This counds like a Twilight Zone show!! 🙂 Just don't allow the scale to control what you think, just use it as a tool to help you manage what you consume each day.
