Hey there @RedHairDontCare sittin' in a chair at the fair in the b... OK, that's quite enough.

Losing weight in your 30's?  Should be easier, given you are so young versus some old fat guys who shall remain nameless.  What's your weight loss goal, what have you tried that hasn't worked, and what is it about your 30's that concerns you about weight loss?

My opinion is that losing weight in your 30's is the same as your 20's and 40's -- increase your activity and reduce junk food.  If that doesn't work, log everything you eat.

I would agree with @Daves_Not_Here that fundamentally, the "laws" and mechanisms of weight loss are the same regardless of age.

Older people tend to have more mobility issues (e.g. due to worn knees, hips, tendons etc.) that can affect their energy expenditure, as well as more medical conditions that can also affect weight loss. It’s unlikely these are relevant for someone in their early 30’s.

What has a much bigger impact than age IMO is your personal situation: are you a student vs. someone with a full-time job, are you single vs. someone with a family? This affects your use of time, your eating patterns etc.

I think in general, due to metabolism, it's easier to lose weight the younger one is. It seems easier in the 20s than 30s, and easier in the 30s than 40s. etc. etc.

So it's good to start as early as possible, which gives you a longer period of becoming accustomed to the weight loss. And if you're older, it's good to have patience with the process.

Older and younger are completely relative terms. When I was 18, 25 was elderly.

Also, your body doesn't get a signal that it's in its 30s--aging has its own course. That is, metabolism doesn't automatically begin to slow once we reach the BIG THREE OH. It's more of a long term trend to watch. So don't think it's harder at 31 than 29.
