You are 16, 5' 6" and 143????? Darling, you are gorgeous!!!! Stop hating on your body. I say the same thing to my 16 year old, who is your size and weight. The belly fat that she thinks she has is not fat, it's just not a six pack. She is very thin, and so are you. If you want to eat healthier, then by all means do so, because that's just good nutrition. But seriously, you do not need to lose weight. You're perfect just the way you are.

Rico, you have plenty of time, tighten up your diet but don't talk yourself into ED territority, K? Trust me, I've lived with it most of my life and if you don't have it now, don't start.
Fruit and vegie carbs are good anytime.
I only eat grains/starches if it is a special occasion, like once a month or so. They are piss-poor nutritionally anyway so there is no harm in dumping them and once you do you are usually dumping the processed junk including the sodium and a lot of the hidden fats that are keeping your weight up anyway.

Awe I'm so sorry that you had to go through that 😞 But thankfully I've found a 90 day challenge! Thanks for all your help!

BMI as a goal is for people who are outside the normal range: if your BMI is 40, you want to bring it down to 30, if it's 30, you want to bring it down to 25, if it's 17, you want to bring it up to 20. Yours is within the normal range, you don't have to do anything about it. A BMI of 20 with your height would mean a weight of 124 pounds, btw: are you sure you want to lose 19 pounds from your current level?!
A good goal would be to increase your activity level. Your Fitbit is perfect for that. Your profile shows you were quite active before Christmas (around 10,000 steps per day), but are now down to 3000-4000 steps. This is very low for someone your age and in your shape. Forget about weight and BMI, get moving, eat/drink healthier/smarter (veggies instead of sugary stuff, water instead of sodas etc.) and you will see results.

Yeah I know, It's winter break for us and I'l admit I've spent a lot of it on the couch. But I eventually want to get more toned, after I lose weight. If I become more tone my BMI will drop as well, and I actually just want to lose like 10 more pounds from my current weight of 140. Also I do eat a pretty healthy diet, I try to be as clean as possible, fresh veggies/fruits, lean meats, fish, whole grains, brown rice, very little fruit juice, barely ever drink pop. I particiapate in aerobics everyday at school for 30mins and softball conditioning 3 times a week, that why I'm not sure why I'm not seeing results.

Do you do any weight training? That will rev up your metabolism to burn more calories even when you're sedentary, as well as "tone up" your body. Strive to train each body part 3X/week. If you alternate between body parts, rather than resting between sets, you'll be done in 20-30 mins. and get your heart beating at the same time 🙂

yes, however, it will require that you work out every day till the end of March, that means 30 minutes of strength training, and 30 minutes of cardio each day! Your diet will need to change. IE:
Eat five meals a day.
Each is to have a balance of Protien, carb and fats. total cals for each meal no more than 320.
Protein 30 gm
Carbs 30 gm
Fats 8 gm
for each meal.
Total daily cal. is about 1520. minimum 4 glass (8os each) water per day.
TRACK, TRACK TRACK. Everything that goes into your mouth.

It's kind of challenging to eat five meals a day because I'm at school. Today for breakfast I ate at panera and had apower breakfast bowl with egg whites, roasted turkey, spinach, bell peppers. and basil pesto. Also I drank a cup of water and a sugar free vanilla latte, which for my total breakfast had less than 15g carbs, 30g protein and 250 calories. Morning snack- grapes-63 calorie. Lunch- Salad w/ romaine lettuce, tomatoes, reduced fat sharp cheddar, and quinioa. Yogurt and strawberries. Whole grain crisp. A total of 150 calories. Afternoon snack- 1/4 clemintine and more a couple strawberries and a little granola- 70 calorie. Dinner- Turkey chilli and steak lettuce wraps- 400 calories. For activity I had a 30min aerobics (jazzercise) class and 2.5 hour softball conditioning (running, speed drills, batting and weightlifting). So basically I not really sure why I'm not losing weight. Also three water bottles 16.9 oz each

The one thing that sticks out at me is that I see a lot of "sugar" in your diet...grapes, clementine, strawberries, granola. Even though the latte was sugar-free, most of the artificial sweeteners (except Stevia) cause your body to react like it's real sugar. Also, the more sweet things you eat, the more your body will crave sweets and carbs. If you eat fruit, eat some protein w/ it (low-fat cheese, natural almond butter, PLAIN Greek yogurt). Opt for a skim milk latte and forget the flavoring, so you don't start off your day w/ something sweet.

I am with you on this. I stated jogging a few months back. Lost inches all over but still struggling with the belly. Eating very healthy. Doing yoga, jogging and going to start a strength training class. I will be 60 and find the belly the hardest place to lose. I also have thyroid issues and menopause. Thyroid is somewhat regulated now. Help! Trying to be 60 and sexy this summer.

I've been experimenting the last week or so w/ not eating anything after dinner (7:30 or so). It really makes a difference in how flat my tummy ios when I wake up in the morning, and I'm down almost 2 lbs! It's hard, though...late night tv watching gives me the munchies! 😞
