I am a 55 yr. old woman having trouble getting motivated. I need a group that will help me out. I am hoping someone out there will take pity on me and invite me in.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I think it takes all kinds of resources. It also takes a village to keep us in tack. I felt badly yesterday that I couldn't see my usuall numbers since I had to charge my unit but today I'm on track to be stepping along. We must all find what works best for ourselves and we can't be judgmental if it didn't work for us. This is a process and we need to find our way.
Best of luck to all of us. I know I need it.

I'm 54. I wear my fitbit faithfully but I log my food the old fashion way, spiral notebook, lol. I don't spend a lot of time on the dashboard or forums (I used to log everything on here) but I go for days not logging on, and don't have a smart phone (don't even want one) I wear the fitbit to keep me aware of my daily activity. Just doing a workout isn't enough, I must be on the move throughout the day or I will not lose weight unless I'm super strict with cals. I'd rather move more than be so strict with cals.
There is a group for 50 + women, but it isn't very active.

Doing pretty well on steps and calorie intake today. I need to bring some snacks to work with me. I am feeling a little too hungry right now. Live and learn.

A good idea is always have a healthy alternative to eat. I use raw almonds and eat them everyday. They are such a healthy form of protein and fat. All good. Even if they are high in calories they are good for you. That is why I like avacado's for that reason. Good fat.

Just stay with it! I am doing okay. I try to do 10,000 steps a day and working on my eating habits and portion sizes. I don't weigh myself until Sunday.

Hi Everyone i also got a fit bit for christmas. I average 10,000 steps a day. I am 56 and i also am on weight watchers. My first week i have lost 5 pds so i am convinced that fit bit with a diet program works well to lose weight. I am someone that has great trouble losing weight but with the two it seems to work.

I just got a new scale which takes the BMI amount and it shows I'm obese. I would have to lose 40 or more lbs to be a healthy weight. I'm not sure I could do that and keep it off. I'm looking to take off 20-25 lbs. So far this has been a real struggle. The scale is not moving much at all but I know that I'm moving and that has to be good.

My food is such an issue and I'm not sure I'm getting the calorie count correctly. The calories burned is much greater then the calorie eaten but I maybe not correctly loging my food. At least the food I'm eating is a heathier version of what I was doing before. I hope I can turn this issue around.

Set short term goals. They are much easier to attain and you won't feel so overwhelmed. Keep up the good work. Even though the scales may not be moving, you are still leading a healthier lifestyle and it will eventually move. At our age the metabolism has definitely slowed down. Just keep on plugging!

Thanks for your encouragement, I like the idea about using music as a motivator. I will give it a try.

Welcome. I find this motovating because my fitbit suggest I improve my steps all the time. I have finally gone over 20,000 steps and try to do no less then 10,000 but the challenges have not yet seen on the scale. I just feel so much better and it get easiler everyday. Try to stay focused and look for small goals rather then the entire picture.
