Hi! everyone. I am new to this board and to Fitbit. I received my fitbit after Christmas and was very excited. I only hit 10 000 steps twice. I have a wedding coming up and want to at least achieve 10 000 steps daily. I also would like to lose 5 pounds from now until then. I am 45yrs of age, weight 140 and 5 feet 4 inches. I know I am not overweight. I just want to lose a little and feel comfy in a bathing suit. We are going away on February 7th to Punta Cana. Any advice? Thank you 🙂

Welcome!
Walking 10K a day will really not help you lose those 5#. Its more about what you eat. So cut back a little there some and Im sure it will fall off.
Exercise helps but its more about the food you consume.
Congrats on the wedding! Honeymoon sounds awesome! Enjoy!

Hi Laurience!
You've already know that even 10k steps it's not easy, but it's possible! Good luck!

@Laurience: Couple of things I would say, 1) avoid all kinds of processed food. 2) Drink lot of water. This would definitely help you to keep going and motivated.
Good luck

@Laurience; first of all, your weight loss "mini-goal" of 5 pounds in three weeks is perfectly doable. If you want ideas on how to do it, you may want to have a look at this thread on my rapid fat loss experiment. During this experiment (which started on Jan. 1st), I’m trying to lose 4 kg (8.8 lbs) in 4 weeks / 6 kg (13.2 lbs) in 8 weeks. I’m two weeks in and already down 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs) on the scale:
And I eat a lot of carbs, so it’s not the typical water loss trick typically experienced at the beginning of low-carb diets.
However, let me ask you this: let’s assume you achieve your mini-goal of 5 pounds before your sister’s wedding, then what? Are you going to store your Fitbit in a drawer and take it out the next time you have a need for another "quick fix"? For me, the value of Fitbit is as a motivator to make long-lasting changes in my habits that will result to permanent improvements in my overall fitness, health and well-being. So while it’s fine to have short-term goals, I believe you should also have a longer-term perspective.
