Hello,
I am looking for people who are in my age bracket and are trying to lose weight. I have about 140lbs to lose. I am having a really hard time with my weight and I am starting to get up there in age so I know it is not going to get any easier. I am looking for encouragement and hope to help others in the same way. I have lost weight before but the keeping off seems to be where I am falling short:(

Hi DeAnna, I am also turning 40 this year and I am trying to lose 100 pounds. I have already lost 12 since I joined fitbit Dec. 31. Feel free to add me as your friend if you wish. A journey is always easier with friends to cheer you on. 🙂

In January of 2012, I stepped on the scale at 285 pounds, just 12 days shy of my 40th birthday. Over the past 3 years, I've lost 133 pounds. It CAN be done. Yes, it's taken me 3 years, but just keep in mind that you didn't put it on fast, so taking it off may take some time. Just know that it can be done. 🙂

My biggest challenge is keeping my eating habits in check when I'm stressed. Best tip--- write down everything you eat and BE HONEST. You're less likely to eat 3 cookies if you know you have to write it down, and if your weight loss stalls you can look back and honestly assess where you went wrong.

I've got to agree with tracking everything you eat. I also use MFP - wow - who knew???

Hi LilyBeth
I don't bring home sweets like cookies so I don't have that option but healthy ole nuts have lots of calories. Writing it all down is hard but it works for me and keeps me conscious of what I'm thinking about eating. I love the message that I'm under my allotted cals. for the day. I end up going up and my stairs to add floors and steps if I'm short of steps. It is such a trip to know that you aren't doing this alone.
When I'm stressed I sometimes write about it and it uses my hands and attention and sometimes it really helps.
Your success is inspiring.
All the best,
Barbara
