Hello,
My name is Tiffany. I am new to FitBit. I will be getting married in late June and I want to loose 30 pounds by that time. I started eating small healthy high protein meals but Im unsure what type of work out routine I should be doing in the gym and how frequently I should be going. I want to loose the weight around my midsection, arms and a little in my face. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should be doing even if you have some meal plans those are welcome too! All advice welcome!!!
Thank you,
Tiffany

everyone is different. for me, low carb did the trick. i've lost 70+ lbs in 7 months. here's a typical day's menu for me:
breakfast - 3 eggs omlette with cheese and whatever meat i have in the fridge (today it's canadian bacon)
lunch - wendy's chicken BLT cobb salad, no croutons, only use 1 dressing packet (or leftovers from the night before)
dinner - 4-6 oz steak with a pat of butter on top and a couple handfuls of spinach
for snacks, i stick to cheese, non-starchy veggies and nuts. watch out for the low fat stuff as it typically has added sugar.
everyone's body has different needs. i typically eat less than 50g of carbs per day. but that's what works for me and makes me feel my best. i'm just putting low carb out there as an option. you have to find what works for you.
also, all the information you'll need is out there. i wouldn't recommend paying money for a diet program. i'd invest the money in some good, low carb cookbooks instead.

I lost 40 pounds last year and walked 4,000 miles - but I also burned 2,500 calories a day and counted my WW points!

Hi TIffany, my name is Anna. And I am new to fitbit as well. I was weighing 178 in Sept of 2013 and before Christmas I was down to 145. Right now I am 136. What I did before I had my fitbit was drastically cut my calories to 1200. Eating 5-6 smalls meals a day. I only did cardio.. I started out doing 20 minutes 3 times a day. Worked up to 60-70 minutes 2 times a day. During those workouts, I would exert myself for 30 seconds, then go to 2 minutes at a moderate pace, then one minute slow.. did as many intervals as I could. I also joined TOPS in my area and reporting to the scale each week kept me comitted and motivated.. This is doable, if I can do it, YOU CAN TOO!! Good Luck!

Hi Heatha,
Thanks for the advice! Please send workouts to my email: tiffany.leigh20@gmail.com. Is the shakeology expensive?
Thanks,

Eat at a calorie deficit from your total calorie burn. That's it. Cardio should be for cardiovascular health, it may help some with creating a larger deficit but most often just increases hunger. A minimum of 30 mins moderate to high intensity is recommended 3x a week. High Intensity Interval Training will give you the most bang for your buck and can be done with any type of cardio.
Make sure you lift challenging weights and do a full body workout 2-3x a week for approximately 30 mins on non-consecutives in the 6-12 rep zone for 2-3 sets. When you lose weight, not only do you lose fat but lean muscle/tissue as well. Strength training will help combat lean muscle loss and improve your body fat percentage.
Eat healthy and clean, get your veg and protein (which you're already doing) this will help with satiaty and bloat.
Btw, you can't choose where fat comes off, that's not how fat-loss works.
And you don't need Shakeology or any other type of garbage people are trying to sell you to lose weight. Weight loss occurs when you expend more calories than you take in. It's free.
I lost 60 lbs in 8 months without drastically cutting calories and have been maintaining my weight for a year. I didn't starve myself on 1200 cals a day. I ate around 1500 cals (sometimes a lot more depending on how hard I was training at the time) and did weight training and cardio. From 175 lbs to 115 lbs. I got toned too. If you just do cardio you're going to burn away lean muscle and have a high body fat percentage at a low weight. You will also slow your metabolism. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn even at rest. Definitely, don't forgo weight/resistance training in the gym.

Hi. My name is Misty. I am looking for support to lose weight. I am starting a weight loss challenge at my work. It is from now until the end of June. I want to lose 50 pounds. I also need to lose a lot around my mid-section. Any suggestions on how to stay motivated. I lose my motivation after a few days or week.

To maintain your motivation, make sure everyone you know is informed of your goals, so they will always be your cheerleaders and supporters. Always: 'just say NO' to people offering you foods you are choosing to avoid. Always say no to 'seconds.' Most important, make sure your goal is achievable. Is 50 lbs really an achievable goal? Seems like a lot to me, particularly if you want to maintain your desired weight after June. Set yourself up for success by setting a reachable, sustainable goal. Good luck!

As a previous poster has stated, what has worked for me is eating more frequently, at least four meals/day, 300-400 calories each, with a small snack on workout days. I try to do 30-45 minutes of cardio at least 5 days a week. From what I've read, maintaining blood sugar levels by eating small meals throughout the day helps maintain your metabolism and keep you from getting hungry. It's really working for me.

Well if you get your burn up there - when I burn 2,500 to 3,000 calories a day (treadmill jogging/brisk walking) - I can drop weight very quickly in addition to eating clean - you can get real close to that number in a matter of a few months. I think it is best to lose weight slowly though - it took me a year to lose 45 pounds.

Any update from Tiffany if the fast weight lost model has been working for 3 months, with only 2 months to go?
The real test will be maintenance after the loss though, if goal is indeed reached.
Edited to add - I guess I should have checked her profile first.
She made it 2 more days past the post and hasn't been back, I'm guessing that means the Discussions specifically, though that may mean using the device in general.
Still curious though.
